Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) plan to renew their deposits with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) that amount to more than $10bn and are due next year, sources close to the matter told Daily News Egypt on Saturday. The sources, who requested anonymity, said that the deposits are short-term and include about $5bn from Saudi Arabia and $5bn from the UAE. They said that an agreement has been reached between the two Gulf countries and Egypt to extend the deposits. The UAE deposits in the CBE total about $10.7bn, divided between $5.7bn long-term and $5bn short-term, while Qatar has deposited about $4bn, Saudi Arabia has deposited about $10.3bn, and Libya has deposited about $900m. A previous Bloomberg report stated that Qatar deposited $1bn in the CBE to finalize these deals.

CAIRO – 15 October 2023: Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported Friday that Human Rights Researcher Patrick Zaki was banned from attending a peace conference held in Brescia after he posted on Facebook describing Israeli Prime Minister as "a serial killer." The same conference had given Zaki, researcher at the University of Bologna and who spent almost two years at Egyptian prisons, a peace award, which is now subject to calls of revocation. The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated Sunday that the numbers of deaths and injuries since October 7 amounted to 2,384 and 10,150, respectively. As for the Israeli side, deaths and injuries exceed 1,000 and 3,000, respectively. In addition, more than 150 have been held hostages by Hamas, which launched an offensive against Israeli settlements on October 7.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Sunday to follow up on the implementation of an initiative to reduce prices of basic goods. The goal of the initiative is to reduce inflation and create more stability in prices, so that citizens feel a real decrease in the prices of basic goods. The ministry is continuing to strengthen strategic stocks of basic goods, in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Regarding rice, the minister said that 250,000 tons of rice have been announced for import to reinforce strategic stocks for 6 months. CARO - 15 October 2023: Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Diab Al-Louh said at a press conference on Sunday that the Palestinian authority totally rejects deporting Palestinians from their homes to other places inside Gaza or in Egypt. The Palestinian ambassador thanked President El-Sisi and Egypt for backing the Palestinian people. “From the first moment of this brutal aggression, Egypt has put all its political and diplomatic weight into stopping this brutal war on Gaza. “We will continue to reject all plans to displace Palestinians to Egypt or any other place. Palestine has 2,329 martyrs and 9,042 injured Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, while the number of martyrs reached 55 people and about 1,100 were injured in the West Bank.

Sherif Lokman, Sub Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) for Financial Inclusion, said that Egypt has made significant progress in enhancing financial inclusion, thanks to the cooperation between CBE and various local and international partners. He said that the rate of financial inclusion in Egypt has increased remarkably in the past seven years. This means that the growth rate of financial inclusion from June 2016 to June 2023 was 160.8%. Lokman also said that CBE considers financial education a top priority, as it plays a major role as a regulator and promoter of financial inclusion. He also noted that one of the main objectives of financial inclusion is to enhance the financial literacy of the population.

Daily News Egypt has learned from informed sources that the government has started to speed up the release of production inputs for food product manufacturers from ports this week. This comes after an agreement between the government, represented by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), and the manufacturers. Moreover, the government will clear the shipments at customs, on the condition that manufacturers agree to lower the prices of essential foodstuffs. Several companies that produce basic materials have decided to cut their prices, especially Juhayna Food Industries, which lowered the price of its cheapest milk “Bekheiro” as a vital item for consumers. Obour Land Food Industries reduced the prices of its cheese and dairy products by 13% to 15%.

CAIRO – 14 October 2023: Palestine rejected and condemned, in the strongest terms, Israel’s crimes of transfer and deportation of the Palestinian people in the occupied Gaza Strip, according to a statement issued from the Palestinian embassy in Cairo. “The Palestinian people are undergoing another Nakba, in full view of the international community,” the statement read. Nakba is an Arabic term that means “Catastrophe” and refers to Israeli crimes of destroying the Palestinians’ homes and kicking them out of their homeland permanently in 1948. Palestine also called upon the international community not to participate, support, give cover, or engage in the commission of these ongoing crimes. The Israeli call reflects how Israel is working to expel all Palestinians from their lands and violating international laws and norms.

LLMs are deep-learning models trained to understand and generate text in a human-like way. Recently released LLM models such as ChatGPT and GPT-4 have garnered attention. The study dataset included 3,269 chest X-ray reports obtained from MIMIC and 25,596 reports from the NIH. Using two prompts for two tasks, the researchers asked the LLM to identify and label the presence or absence of 13 specific findings on the chest X-ray reports. “LLMs have turned the whole paradigm of natural language processing on its head,” he said.

By measuring this shift, we can detect water adulteration in honey.”The team tested honey samples with varying water content. They found that the sensor’s resonance frequency consistently decreases with increased added water content.

Al-Azhar Al-Sharif has renewed its appreciation to the Palestinian people for their reclaiming their own land from the Israeli occupation. It also called for an international investigation into the war crimes that the Zionist entity has committed against children, women and the elderly in the besieged and isolated Gaza Strip. Hamas fighters launched their military operation to put an end to the suffering of the Palestinians due to the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip and due to the intensive provocative actions by Israeli forces and settlers against the Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem. Israel has 1,203 martyrs and wounded 5,763 others in the Gaza Strip, while in the West Bank, the number of the martyrs reached 29 people and about 180 injured. Egypt warned against the serious dangers of the continuous Israeli escalation against the Palestinians when the Israeli forces stormed and attacked many parts of the occupied lands in Jenin of the West Bank.
