Egypt will start implementing the summer daylight savings time system on Friday, April 28, which has been implemented and canceled several times in country, the last of which was in 2016. Daylight saving time is the change of the official time in the country for several months each year, by moving the clock forward by 60 minutes. According to Nader Saad, a spokesperson for the Cabinet, the daylight saving time system will be applied starting Friday, April 28. In March, The Egyptian Cabinet approved a draft law regarding the return of the daylight saving time system, after abolishing it for years. CAIRO – 21 April 2023: Supervisor of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Bureaus in South Sinai Hussein Mohamed Hussein told Al Watan newspaper Friday that 30,000 hotel rooms would be introduced in the governorate by 2028. The official clarified that, as such, South Sinai would be able to receive 10 million tourists per annum, given that the number of existing hotel rooms is 62,000. He added that the total number of hotel rooms in Egypt is 213,000 distributed on 1,210 hotels. Tourism minister Ahmed Issa Taha stated in March that 11.7 million tourists visited Egypt during 2022, noting that it is expected that Egypt would see an increase in foreign tourist arrivals by 28 percent. During a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Taha gave an overview of his ministry's strategy during the current period to launch promotion campaigns to further increase foreign tourists arrivals.

UN agencies on Thursday expressed concern over the impact of fighting on civilians in Sudan, where the humanitarian situation was already dire. The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said at least nine children were reportedly killed in the fighting and more than 50 children were injured. UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said the perilous security situation across Sudan makes it very difficult to collect and verify the information. But UNICEF is certain that while fighting continues, children will continue to pay the price. “A staggering 15.8 million people in Sudan, one-third of the population, already were in need of humanitarian assistance.”The World Food Programme warns that the fighting in Sudan could plunge millions more into hunger.

The Egyptian Armed Forces also issued a statement clarifying that the majority of soldiers, who were part of joint exercises with the Sudanese Army, had been returned on board of three Egyptian military transport aircraft on Wednesday.
