The opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, cannot win the 2024 generals elections with John Dramani Mahama as their flagbearer, the Economist Intelligence Unit, EIU, has said. Mahama has led the NDC into two unsuccessful election campaigns in 2016 and 2020. According to EIU’s five-year forecast for Ghana released on April 13, 2022, the opposition party has a higher probability to be victorious in the next general elections. “Our baseline forecast is that ongoing public dissatisfaction with the slow pace of improvements in governance—such as infrastructure development, job creation and easing of corruption—will trigger anti-incumbency factors and push the electorate to seek a change," the EIU report stated. From the research findings, EIU indicated that “John Mahama, is reportedly considering running again,” adding that NDC should "try to revitalise its prospects with a fresh candidate.”The EIU has, in the past, predicted correctly the outcomes of Ghana’s elections in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020.

Easter festivities are absolutely incomplete without Easter Mondays. The plants were seized and destroyed while the meat was handed over to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). They have also been suggested as a possible source of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some 40 people are feared dead on the Volta Lake after a boat carrying them capsized due to a storm. The boat was travelling across the Lake from Tongor-Dzemeni in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region to Havorkope in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District of the Eastern Region, when it encountered the storm leading to the accident. She said the outboard motor of the boat went off and water began to enter when the storm hit. She said she jumped onto one of the boards of the boat and was floating on the surface of the water before another boat came to her rescue and some other passengers. More than distraught 500 members of the community were gathered at the shore while the search continued, Mr Kpetigo said.

A 58-year-old woman, who was found floating in the Oti River after falling overboard a ferry has been rescued by boat operators at Dambai, in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region. It is not clear how she came to be in the river Oti. The woman is responding to treatment for hypothermia, according to Mr Elijah Amegbe, physician assistant at the Dambai Health Centre. Others told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the government must build a bridge over River Oti to avoid future occurrences. A visit to Dambai Health Centre by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), revealed that the victim was responding to treatment.

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, John Boadu has revealed that President Akufo-Addo is bent on handing over power to a Presidential candidate of the NPP in 2025. John Boadu, whiles speaking at a news conference in Kumasi earlier this week (April 13) quoted the President as saying he (Akufo-Addo) believed handing over to an NPP candidate was not far fetched but that it will require unity of purpose. According to a Daily Guide newspaper report, Boadu told the conference that Akufo-Addo had disclosed his 'dream' at a National Executive Committee meeting on April 12. “The NPP members should remain steadfast and united around the sterling leadership of the government which is steering the country through these difficult times,” he added. Alhaji Mohammed Indimi OFR, a business mogul who is the founder and chairman of Oriental Energy Resources (OER), a privately-held Nigerian oil exploration and production company, flew into the Northern Regional Capital, Tamale to mourn with the Aliu Mahama family. This follows the death of Hajia Ramatu Mahama, former Second Lady and wife of late former Vice President of Ghana (2001-2009) Alhaji Aliu Mahama with whom the renowned Nigerian businessman had a long-standing friendship. The Nigerian business mogul, Alhaji Indimi who couldn’t attend the funeral flew into Tamale from Nigeria on his private jet to mourn with the Aliu Mahama family. He was received by the Member of Parliament for Yendi and the son of Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Farouk Aliu Mahama at the airport.
