The pathetic batting display on Sunday left Sunil Gavaskar disappointed as South Africa snapped India’s 12-match unbeaten streak in the T20 World Cup, handing the defending champions a 76-run defeat. The former captain said India needed to take a cue from South Africa’s innings and adapt to the conditions. Apple will move some production of its Mac Mini desktop computer to the U.S. from Asia, with a new manufacturing effort set to begin later this year at a Foxconn facility in north Houston, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. The production for Mac Mini will continue in Asia, its chief operating officer Sabih Khan told WSJ, adding that the facility will meet local demand as the U.S. assembly line ramps up. It was not immediately clear whether Apple plans to scale down production in its Asia facilities. The company feels more confident projecting long-term demand for the Mac Mini, which is more popular than the Mac Pro, Khan added. However, the facility had been producing Apple computers since 2013 and Apple has since moved that production to Thailand.

BENGALURU: An international study published in Ecology Letters, ranked seventh globally, has highlighted the ecological significance of rain-filled tree hollows in forests, with key contributions from Kerala-based scientists. The study found that water-filled tree hollows, described as “islands in the sky”, support complex aquatic micro-communities of insects and larvae, linked through intricate food webs. Though small in size, these microhabitats play a vital role in nutrient cycling and energy flow within forests. Researchers observed that the survival of these communities depends not only on water quality but also on forest connectivity. The study was supported by a Government of India DST-SERB (now ANRF) grant awarded to Dr Anoop Das.

The East India Company in question was launched in London in 2010 by an Indian, Sanjiv Mehta, after he had bought the rights to the name. He opened a shop in Mayfair, the heart of affluent London, and traded in luxury food and drink items — including, inevitably, tea. After starting his company, Mehta was quoted as saying that he had reclaimed a symbol of colonial oppression for Indians and that “today’s East India Company is about compassion”.
