The German spent eight-and-a-half years in charge of Liverpool before stepping down at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, having previously managed Dortmund. Liverpool raced into a 2-0 lead through goals from Thiago and Jay Spearing before Dortmund fought back to draw 2-2 at Anfield. However, if he was to return to England, it would be with Liverpool because he can't see himself managing a rival club.

A judge has described the case of a couple who had shared a life together for decades but found themselves in court at the later stage of their lives over the breach of a protection order as a “very sad situation”. The court heard that the accused, who is originally from Morocco, had lived in Spain for many years before moving to Ireland decades ago. He denied the allegation and told the court the couple argued but would reconcile. The accused told the court that he speaks several languages, including Spanish, Arabic, Italian and French. In a victim impact statement, the woman told the court she had been terrified by her former partner.

Fullback Davit Niniashvili had to be replaced late-on after he stayed on the floor following a bone-crunching tackle. Despite US claims to have devastated Iran’s military, Reuters cited intelligence sources as saying Washington could only be certain it had destroyed a third of Iran’s missile and drone arsenal. US media reported that a missile and drone attack on Prince Sultan airbase in Saudi Arabia wounded at least 12 US soldiers, two of them seriously. Since the US-Israeli attack on Iran on February 28, Saudi Arabia has been able to divert some of its oil exports by pipeline to the Red Sea. The US is the only party in the Iran conflict to possess the weapon, though Tehran has been using ballistic missiles carrying cluster warheads in its strikes on Israel. Such an escalation, possibly combined with renewed direct confrontation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, could lead to a major regional conflagration, Al-Muslimi said.

As a mother of four boys, teenagers riding e-bikes had become one of my biggest parenting fears. The following day, a number of their mates agreed to talk to me about their involvement in the growing illegal e-bike culture. That's actually being with their mates, but their logical brains are still developing, and they think it is about the e-bikes. We have already taken social media away and we are coming for e-bikes, but what are we replacing them with? Where are the safe spaces, the programs, the mentors, the fun that allows kids to be kids and gives these boys the same sense of belonging - without the danger?

Sam Curran offers a notable counterpoint during a county pre-season in which the treatment of players discarded by England has become a hot topic. But, after being axed 13 months ago ahead of the Champions Trophy, Surrey all-rounder Curran made a bold move, calling for a meeting with McCullum. I was out the team and just kind of asked what I needed to do,' Curran tells Daily Mail Sport. Curran spent Saturday volunteering at St Albans, acknowledging the importance of people mucking in at recreational clubs. 'It's very cold and still does not feel like cricket season, but it's great to see all the local people and I've been helping put up some sight screens,' he says.

Volterra laid down the pace early on and he set an even gallop as Jamie Spencer on the 8-11 favourite stalked at the rear. With a Group One win last season at Royal Ascot under his belt Docklands looked the class act and so it proved. “He did win it well, his consistency is really something that is just a credit to him every time. “We’re here today with a lot of better horses because of him, he’s been such a star. He’ll go to Ascot and then we’ll have to come up with a plan when we see how he is after that.”

With 75 days until the start of the 2026 World Cup, the pressure on the United States men's national team has only built more and more before it welcomes the globe on home soil. Mauricio Pochettino's USMNT squad suffered a humiliating 5-2 loss to Belgium in Atlanta. Belgium's first close chance in the first half came in the 36th minute, thanks to Turner. The Benfica winger curled a shot past Turner - who reacted too late - and tripled the advantage. The Belgian pounced on it and hit a low shot that Turner did not even bother diving for.

Organisers of Saturday’s Together Alliance demonstration claimed 500,000 people had taken a public stand against the Far Right in London. With police estimates, as ever, much lower, it was still clearly the biggest ever national demonstration the UK has ever seen against the Far Right. ‌The banners name-checked places from near and far – ‘Chesterfield Dump Trump’, ‘Cornwall against Fascism’, ‘Nottingham Fights Back’, ‘St Albans Together’. ‌“I believe that one fine day,” the crowds sang, “the power of love will rise above the love of power”, holding placards that read ‘Folk Against The Far Right’, ‘London Sea Shanty Collective’, and ‘sing for unity’. And while every one of Far Right activist Tommy Robinson’s marches have had counterprotests, it seemed no fascists had wanted to counter 500,000 people.
