New research conducted by Broadband Genie compiled over 145,000 speed tests from users across the UK to find Britain's slowest streets. By contrast, the street with the UK's fastest broadband, Inglewood Avenue in Derby, enjoys download speeds that are 1,449 times faster. Following closely behind Heol–Y–Fedw, the second slowest street is Turnberry Crescent, Aberdeen, Scotland, where download speeds sit at a measly 1.06 gigabytes per second. Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are the world's second- and third-richest people. Photograph: Leon Neal/Getty ImagesAlphabet’s market value may have crossed $4 trillion, but Google’s co-founders appear to have taken a more personal measure of success: avoiding California’s proposed billionaire tax. The moves are widely assumed to be an effort to avoid a one-time 5 per cent wealth tax on residents worth more than $1 billion. It contrasts with another California billionaire, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, who shrugged off the levy, saying he hadn’t “thought about it even once”. Page (worth $287 billion) and Brin ($267 billion) are the world’s second- and third-richest people.

Mark English carved half a second off his Irish indoor 800m record when powering to victory in 1:44.65 at the CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting on Sunday afternoon. It continues a fine start to the year for English, who opened his season last Wednesday with an Irish indoor 600m record, clocking 1:15.80 at the Track and Field Live meeting in Abbotstown. McPhillips will have his eyes on English’s 600m record when he lines up at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston on Saturday. How a crude gesture was seized on by the outrage machineIt was the early days of October. I was discussing Jim Gavin’s unsuitability for the superficiality and viciousness of the presidential campaign with my co-host Dion Fanning on our podcast, Free State. I made a gesture as we were talking about the dumbness of the stock questions Jim Gavin was being asked on the campaign trail. I fully accept that the gesture was crude. The thought never struck me it would end up on the RTÉ news just after a report about Russian missile attacks on Ukraine.
