MONROVIA – The National Elections (NEC) has announced a rerun of the presidential, senatorial and representative elections at the two polling places in Nimba Electoral District #4 where ballot boxes were stolen. The first shipment of products from the Baowu Liberia iron ore project arrived at Zhenjiang Port, and the project in neighboring Guinea is accelerating. Mr. Simão equally urged the National Elections Commission to maintain the same level of professionalism and transparency in the tallying process. He invited Liberians to persist in their efforts to strengthen democracy through credible, inclusive, and peaceful electoral processes in the country. In contrast to the last three elections, this year’s polls were entirely conducted and safeguarded by the Liberian government through the National Elections Commission and the Joint Security.

MONROVIA – Recent election results released by the National Elections Commission on Sunday now bring the Commission about 75 percent closer to announcing the final results of the October 10 Presidential and General Elections. The NEC disclosed that the progressive results show that 1,355,140 valid votes have been tallied so far while 80,910 invalid votes have been recorded. President George Weah remains in the lead, but there is a very thin margin between him and Ambassador Joseph Boakai of the Unity Party. According to the NEC, President Weah has obtained 593,558 votes (43.80%) while Ambassador Boakai has 589,977 votes (43.54%).
