The General Electricity Company of the parallel government has announced that the cities of the eastern region had entered a state of complete darkness. The company's media committee explained, on its official Facebook page, that a tremor in the western region's power network led to the disconnection of the lines between the western and eastern wings of the network, pointing out the return of the capacity of the eastern network to 380 MW. Today, on Sunday, the Libyan people celebrate the 72nd anniversary of their independence, which marks the culmination of Libyan struggles for freedom after decades of Italian occupation that began in 1911. The struggle against Italian occupation continued until the United Nations' decision to grant Libya independence in November 1949, five years after the end of World War II. On December 24, 1951, the late King Idris Al-Sanusi declared Libya's independence from the balcony of the Al-Manar Palace in Benghazi. In his independence speech, he announced that "as a result of the nation's struggle and by the UN resolution issued on November 21, 1949, Libya had achieved independence with the help of God."

Libya is discussing handing over hospitals to the Saudi German Hospitals Group to operate and manage. The news was revealed on Thursday after the head of the Department of Support and Development of Medical Services (DSDMS), Ahmed Militan, met in his Tripoli office with the Director of the Saudi German Hospitals Group in Egypt and North Africa, Mohamed Lutfi. The DSDMS reported that several other matters were discussed, including the debts incurred by Libyan patients in affiliated hospitals to the Saudi German Hospitals Group in Cairo. A programme for training human cadres to transfer medical expertise was also discussed. The DSDMS said the operation and management of Libyan hospitals by the Group is part of the DSDMS’s 2024 strategic plan.
