PUTRAJAYA: A national mobile application, an all-in-one platform to access different digital services, will be developed, says the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). “Activities such as accessing government digital services, selected private services, bill payments, traffic summonses, renewals of driving licenses and road tax, birth and marriage registrations and more without having to commute to the location,” MCMC said in a statement. MCMC is inviting the public to participate in a survey on the proposed concept of the national mobile application and give their views on the digital services required through the platform. The survey would also identify factors that influence the people’s choice in using a national mobile application. “Feedback will be taken into account in the development of the national mobile platform,” it added.

While it is rare for senior Pentagon officials, including the defense secretary, to apologize personally for civilians killed in military strikes, the U.S. military does publish reports on civilians killed in operations around the world. Reports had emerged almost immediately that the drone strike in a neighborhood west of Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport had killed civilians including children. Following the suicide bombing at the airport, the U.S. military launched a drone strike in eastern Afghanistan that it said killed two Islamic State militants.

SAO PAULO (Reuters) -Brazil soccer legend Pele, 80, is in a "stable" condition after "respiratory instability" early on Friday led to him being admitted to an intensive care unit, Sao Paulo's Albert Einstein hospital said in a statement. The hospital said Pele "presented a brief respiratory instability" and was admitted to an ICU as a "preventive measure." After he was stabilized, it said he had been moved to "semi-intensive care" and was now "stable from a cardiovascular and respiratory point of view." Pele has suffered from hip problems for years and cannot walk unaided. BUTTERWORTH: A 3.67m-long crocodile, weighing around 500kg, was captured at a fisherman's jetty at Jalan Bagan Ajam here. PUTRAJAYA: Four Covid-19 cases were discovered following screening exercises carried out at air and sea entry points to Langkawi. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the four were among 3,454 individuals who were screened before leaving for Langkawi. “Two positive cases were discovered at the Kuala Perlis jetty,” he said in his tweet on Friday (Sept 17). On Thursday (Sept 16), which was the first day of the Langkawi travel bubble initiative, five individuals tested positive for Covid-19 after undergoing screenings at air and sea entryway to Langkawi. On Sept 15, the government announced that travellers under the Langkawi travel bubble must take Covid-19 tests before departure.
