This information was stated in the public consultation document released by the Department of Standards Malaysia, outlining the standards that healthcare facilities should observe for the maintenance and operation of assets and engineering systems within their buildings. Repair time refers to the period between identifying a maintenance issue and completing the repair, and this depends on the urgency, complexity and resources involved. “These requests require immediate response, and a rapid response time is critical to prevent further damage or safety risks,” according to the document. In addition, a contingency plan could also be regarded as part of disaster management to help the healthcare facility overcome disasters internally or externally,” it added.

She said the syndicate had also used an alias, which Suhaila suspected was also a stolen identity, and shared a phone number that was supposedly linked to a “niece”.

Hong Kong’s privacy watchdog is investigating risks to early users of HSBC’s popular PayMe mobile app after the Post discovered some remain unaware their personal details may have been exposed. The watchdog said the bank must ensure the highest level of privacy protection by default. This follows HSBC’s statement users have been able to choose the level of visibility of their transaction history within the app from day one. Some customers who adopted the app before 2019 were unaware that their transaction history could be viewed by friends within the platform. “‘Private’ is the default setting for newly joined PayMe users since August 2019,” the bank said on its website.

PETALING JAYA: The Grok Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot has been temporarily blocked in Malaysia effective Jan 11. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said this was due to repeated misuse of the AI chatbot to generate obscene, sexually explicit, indecent, grossly offensive, and non-consensual manipulated images, including content involving women and minors, despite prior regulatory engagement and formal notices issued to X Corp and xAI LLC. "The restriction is imposed as a preventive and proportionate measure while legal and regulatory processes are ongoing," it said, adding that access to Grok would remain restricted until effective safeguards are implemented, particularly to prevent content involving women and children. MCMC also said that they remain open to engagement with X Corp and xAI LLC subject to demonstrable compliance with Malaysian law. "Members of the public are strongly urged to promptly report harmful online content to MCMC and, where appropriate, lodge police reports with the police," it said.

PETALING JAYA: National squash player S. Sivasangari's hope for a winning start to the year was dashed by Egypt’s Amina Orfi in the Karachi Open final on Sunday (Jan 11). Second seed Sivasangari was overpowered by top seed Orfi, who won 11-8, 11-2, 11-7 in 38 minutes at the DA Creek Club in Karachi, Pakistan. It was Orfi's first gold-level tournament of the year. GEORGE TOWN: Two men were killed and a teenage girl was injured in an accident involving three motorcycles on Jalan Burma here on Sunday (Jan 11). "Two other motorcyclists travelling in the middle lane failed to avoid the elderly motorcyclist and hit him. As a result of the collision, the elderly motorcyclist died at the scene, while the second motorcyclist, a 41-year-old man, died while receiving treatment at the Penang Hospital (HPP) at 1.15pm," he said in a statement the same day. He said the third, a 19-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries to her right leg. Abdul Rozak said the post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death for both victims was head injuries, and the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

MUAR: Police have arrested nine individuals believed to have acted as mule account holders involved in online scam activities. Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the nine suspects were detained in an operation conducted across several states in the peninsula on Saturday (Jan 10). “Checks revealed that the nine suspects, comprising seven local men and two local women aged between 24 and 5,9 had acted as mule account holders. “They handed over their ATM cards and banking details to online scam syndicates, which were then used as channels to receive money from victims,” he said in a statement on Sunday. “The fraud activities involving these individuals were detected to have taken place between December 2024 and October 2025,” he said.

BANGKOK: (Bernama-Xinhua) A speedboat carrying 55 people collided with a fishing boat near the popular Phi Phi Islands in Thailand's Krabi province on Sunday (Jan 11) morning, leaving several passengers injured and in need of medical attention, the Krabi Provincial Public Relations Office announced via social media, reported Xinhua. According to the announcement, Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Centre received official notification of the collision at 9.10am local time. Preliminary investigations confirmed the speedboat was occupied by 50 tourists, one Thai guide, one foreign guide, and three crew members. All individuals involved in the accident have since been safely rescued and transferred to the shores of Phi Phi Islands. - Bernama-Xinhua

Ong was a DAP MP and former deputy federal minister. We share a vision for the nation, Lets get it done brother,” said Khairy. In his tribute, Ong who has since returned to the academic scene, said he would take leave from work to publicly campaign for Khairy at the next general election, regardless of party affiliation. Ong also said he would gladly throw his hat into the ring to be part of the Cabinet led by Khairy.
