PETALING JAYA: A RM87.4mil tender to maintain, operate and manage the Health Ministry’s MySejathera system is open for bidding, according to the National Digital Department. Bidding for the tender, which opened on Friday, can be done through the e-perolehan website and will end on Feb 23. Other responsibilities under the project will include software and system development, customisation, maintenance, data entry and processing. The MySejahtera application, which was developed and rolled out during the Covid-19 ­pandemic, was used to issue alerts and track the movement of users. It was also used for the national vaccination drive as well as to register and track Covid-19 patients.

KOTA KINABALU: Nearly 500 individuals have been evacuated to relief centres in Kota Kinabalu and Beaufort following flooding that began on Saturday (Jan 3). According to the state Civil Defence Department, as of 8am on Sunday (Jan 4), there were 315 victims from 113 families in Beaufort and 180 victims from 46 households in Kota Kinabalu, totalling nearly 500 displaced individuals. These individuals are currently being sheltered at the Dewan Selagon relief centre in Beaufort and the Masjid Al Munir Hall in Darau, which is close to the city centre. There have been no reported casualties from the flooding thus far. On Saturday, Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah declared Kota Kinabalu a flood disaster zone.

SHAH ALAM: Police are tracking down those involved in throwing stones from the Seri Cheeding bridge along the West Coast Expressway (WCE), causing damage to a vehicle on Thursday. Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said a report on the incident was received at 3.22 pm on Friday (Jan 2) from a patrol officer carrying out routine patrols on the WCE. He said the 32-year-old complainant received information from the Selangor WCE patrol group and the incident resulted in damage to the vehicle involved but there were no injuries reported. "The purpose of lodging the report was to request the police to increase patrol frequency in the area. NIBONG TEBAL: Police have arrested 10 more individuals suspected of being involved in the case where a man died and two others were injured after being attacked by a group of masked men armed with sharp objects at a restaurant in Sungai Bakap here, last Tuesday (Dec 30). Penang police chief Comm Datuk Azizee Ismail said all the suspects were arrested in separate raids in Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) and Taiping, Perak on Friday (Jan 2), bringing the total number of arrests so far to 14, including four arrested within 48 hours of the incident. "All 14 suspects arrested, aged between 24 and 54, are believed to be members of a secret society active in Penang. "Of the total, 10 suspects have criminal and drug records," he said in a statement on Saturday (Jan 3). He said that based on intelligence, the police also raided several areas believed to be gathering places for members of the group to track down the remaining suspects involved in the incident.

SEREMBAN: The remand order for a man suspected of being involved in an explosion involving an improvised explosive device (IED) at Desa Palma, Nilai here has been extended for seven days from Sunday (Jan 4). Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the remand order against the 62-year-old man, until Jan 10, was issued by Magistrate Sara Afiqah Zulkipli at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital here after the initial remand period ended on Saturday (Jan 3). "The extension is to allow further investigations to be carried out under Sections 307 and Section 435 of the Penal Code and Section 4 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act,” he said in a statement here today. Previously, Alzafny said the suspect in the Desa Palma explosion on the morning of Dec 22 was arrested in the vicinity of Batang Benar, Nilai, at about 4.15pm on Dec 27, with burn injuries to his face, body, hands and legs.
