All customers of all my businesses are suffering from inflation and cost of living pressures, whether they are consumers or businesses. I am expecting 2024 to be a better year, hopefully interest rates will drop again and business confidence in the new government will increase again. Although I see interest rates coming down again, I am also concerned about the possibility of a global recession and war spreading to more countries, and that lowering interest rates will lead to inflation again.

Conservation organisation Forest & Bird has sent an open letter to the local councils of New Zealand pleading for stricter regulations about vehicles on beaches around the country. Ultimately, it’s meant the question of cars on beaches has fallen to local authorities, with a mixed bag of results across the country. “We appreciate that on some beaches, vehicles are necessary to access private property, launch boats, gather kaimoana, and for emergency situations,” he said.
