Kallberg is currently ranked 20th in the world, while Quadri is six steps ahead of the Swedish table tennis player. Quadri and Egyptian trio Hana Goda, Dina Meshref and Mariam Alhodaby are the four Africans featuring at the tournament. The Nigerian came back from two sets down to beat Omar Assar 4-3 in a nerve-wracking final of the 2022 International Table Tennis Federation African Championship in Algeria. About 60 Nigerian students studying at a private university, GD Goenka University, in India have fled their campus after they were allegedly beaten and abused on the football field and in their hostel. According to a Nigerian student, Khaleel, the trouble erupted on Friday, when the university decided to have both Indian and Nigerian students in one team. Despite that, a few Indian students entered the field and before anyone could realise a thing, someone hit our captain on the head with an iron rod. Khaleel alleged that a group of Indian students attacked them in the hostel the next day (Saturday). Indian students, on the other hand, alleged they were attacked by a group of Nigerians.

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 39-year-old man, Mfon Jeremiah, for allegedly impregnating his 13-year-old daughter (name withheld). Jeremiah, a resident of FIRRO Estate off Adesan, Mowe in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, was arrested after his wife reported him to the police. Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Mowe divisional headquarters by the mother of the victim. The PPRO said, “The mother of the victim reported that she discovered that her daughter was pregnant, and when she inquired from the daughter, she was informed that it was her father who slept with her. Upon the report, the DPO Mowe division, SP Folake Afeniforo, quickly detailed detectives to the suspect’s house where he was promptly arrested.

A 30-year-old man, Felix Ikpeha, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Security Network, otherwise known as the Amotekun Corps for being in possession of three bloodstained wet female pants. The state Commander of the corps, David Akinremi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abeokuta. Akinremi said the suspect was arrested following an alarm raised by some members of the community who suspected his movement. He said “When the suspect was searched, three bloodstained wet female pants were found in his possession for which he could not give any satisfactory explanation. The corps commander disclosed that the suspects were previously operating in Benin Republic, but relocated to Nigeria after they were dislodged by the Benenois authority.

A Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, has sentenced a 21-year-old man, Chinedu Eziuzo, to seven months’ imprisonment for raping his 14-year-old sister in Adazi-Enu, in the Anaocha Local Government Area of the state. Eziuzo was said to have committed the crime in 2021, but was arrested on May 30, 2022. The judge, Dr Nnamdi Dimgba, said the sentence would commence from the day of his arrest. He was further handed down a non-custodial sentence of community service of not less than three hours daily.
