Share:RAWALPINDI - Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench Justice Abdul Aziz has directed the police to arrest within four days all the accused involved in violating the sanctity of the Masjid-e-Nabvi (PBUH) in Madinah during visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Saudi Arabia. The court also expressed its resentment over the release of the convicted accused of violation of the sanctity of Masjid-e-Nabvi (SAW) from Saudi prisons by the prime minister of Pakistan. Police Station New Airport Fateh Jang had registered a case against Awami Muslim League president and former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, his nephew MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafique and others on charges of violating the sanctity of Masjid-e-Nabvi (SAW), chanting blasphemous slogans and harassing the volunteers and devotes in Masjid-e-Nabvi. While resuming the hearing into the petition, Justice Abdul Aziz directed the police and other law enforcement agencies to apprehend all the accused involved in violating the sanctity of Masjid-e-Nabvi (PBUH) during the visit of PM of Pakistan. He also questioned the investigation officer as to why the accused in the FIR were scooting free.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced that the government has issued instructions to suspend supply of natural gas to commercial consumers for three months in winter due to its shortage. “Consumers should sign a new agreement with the company for switching over to liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is a better option, though it will cost three times more,” said Khurram Ayub Khan, General Manager Distribution SNGPL North. “Natural gas deposits have been discovered in North Waziristan, but their supply to consumers will take time,” he said. The government was providing subsidy on LNG supply to the domestic consumers, but no subsidy was being provided to the commercial consumers, he said and assured the ICCI members that he would convey their concerns to the relevant authorities for consideration. Speaking at the meeting, ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari revealed that SNGPL had issued notices to commercial consumers in Islamabad for suspension of natural gas connections from November 1, 2022 creating great concern among the business community

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) while asking Pakistan to raise taxes, electricity tariff, and cut expenditures has also reiterated that Islamabad should set up an anti-corruption task force. Among other things, he said that IMF has also urged Pakistan to notify the anti-corruption task force, which the government had agreed to in June this year. He recalled that the task force would recommend appropriate structural reform measures that strengthen the independence of anti-graft institutions, prevent political influence and persecution, and provide for transparency and accountability controls against abuse. He added that former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s name was proposed to head the task force but no decision has so far been taken. Meanwhile, the hosts discussed PM Shehbaz’s maiden visit to China starting from November 1, saying Pakistan has requested China to rollover its $6.3 billion debt that is maturing in the next eight months.

It may be mentioned here that a threat alert titled ‘Special Information Report’ was issued by the KP DIG of police (Operations) a few days ago. The alert mentioned that TTP planned to target several political leaders including Senator Mushtaq Ahmed, Manzoor Chishti, Ahmad Wali and Amir Muqam. The threat alert directed the authorities concerned to also tighten security at foreign projects, minority worship places, educational institutions, imambargahs, major bus terminals and other sensitive locations.
