PHOTO: REUTERS/FILEThe US Federal Trade Commission has begun a review of Amazon.com's $1.7 billion takeover of robot vacuum maker iRobot Corp to decide if the deal violates antitrust law, Politico reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. The US anti-trust body’s iRobot review is wide-ranging and would include both head-to-head competition and whether the deal would illegally boost Amazon's market share in both the connected device market and the retail market in general, the report added. Amazon in August announced its all-cash deal of $61 per share to acquire iRobot, maker of the robotic vacuum cleaner Roomba. The online retailer in July had agreed to buy primary care provider One Medical. One Medical on Friday said the US anti-trust body had sought more information from the company and Amazon about the primary care provider's $3.49 billion acquisition by the online retailer.

KP’s Chief Minister (CM), Mahmood Khan, has given directives to reform and restructure civil service policies to make them more people-centric and to eliminate unnecessary and time-consuming procedures. Public service is still dominated by officers who have been serving for decades, neglecting the immense potential that lies in new talent. The region is in extreme distress not only because of the floods but also because of poor administration in health and education. With hindsight, it is fairly easy to say that public services will be prepared enough to launch anti-encroachment drives, construct embankments or flood protection walls. What matters most is how the civil administration is able to prepare beforehand so that the damage is mitigated.

As he heads into his twelfth NHL season in 2022-23, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is Edmonton’s longest-serving player currently on the roster. Nugent-Hopkins posted strong goal differential results with Foegele and Ryan, but as indicated by their poor xGF%, it was likely unsustainable over a larger sample. Despite having a low PDO, they still finished with a positive goal differential as well. The team without Nugent-Hopkins, McDavid, and Draisaitl has been quite poor, and the bottom-six performs better with Nugent-Hopkins as opposed to without. Furthermore, his isolated impact on 5v5 goal differential (RAPM GF%) ranks 15th on the Oilers, while his impact on 5v5 expected goal differential (RAPM xGF%) ranks 16th.

The England and Wales Cricket Board are committed to the forthcoming T20 tour of Pakistan despite the flooding that has ravaged the country. England have not played in Pakistan since 2005 due to security concerns and pulled out of a planned series last year at short notice. The Pakistan Cricket Board were furious with that decision, making England’s visit for a seven-match T20 series starting on September 20 even more significant for relations between the countries. Matches are due to be held in Karachi and Lahore, with no changes currently planned despite the worst floods in Pakistani history, which have left a death toll of 1,200 and rising and a third of the country under water. “But it’s a trip we’re desperate to go on and it’s going to take a lot for us not to get out there.
