He stated that the Government’s policy on the vaccination drive is to vaccinate as many people as possible once the priority list of health workers and frontline workers is completed. “There has been no separate vaccination of health workers’ family members with the knowledge of the health authorities and the Ministry of Health,” Dr. Herath told The Morning. However, he said that family members of health workers can obtain the vaccine through the public vaccination drive.

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police launched a special operation in the Colombo District to detect those who violate the quarantine rules and regulations. The special operation which involved the use of drones and the Police Special Task Force was carried out in Keselwatte, Maligawatte, and Grandpass on Sunday (23). 27 people who failed to follow the quarantine rules and regulations were admonished by Police Officers however, 04 people were arrested for seriously violating the quarantine rules and regulations. Since the 30th of October 2020, a total of 12,748 people were arrested for the aforementioned offenses. However, 137 people were admonished for not following the quarantine rules and regulations.

Police have arrested a man in possession of heroin stashed in a car yesterday (23) claiming that he was transporting medicinal drugs to a patient. The suspect was arrested at the Ingiriya Ketakadella police roadblock, police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said. The suspect had told the police that he was traveling from Horana to Kiriella with the necessary drugs after the vehicle was stopped at the roadblock. Police said a search of the car revealed five grams of heroin and 200 milligrams of ice. It has been revealed that the suspect had transported the drugs to a heroin dealer in the Kiriella area in Ratnapura.

Accordingly, the total number of persons arrested so far is 12,748. Meanwhile, a search operation was launched in several areas in Colombo yesterday using drones to search for quarantine violators.
