CAIRO – 20 March 2022: Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Mohamed Abdel Aty stated Saturday that the introduction of the canal carrying agricultural wastewater from western the Delta to Matrouh's Al Hammam treatment plant will be completed in a year. The canal will stretch over 114 kilometers, with 22 kilometers of that distance being in the form of pipes. The progress rate of the plant is 22 percent as pumping stations have been accomplished by 25-43 percent. The ministry also rehabilitated 60 kilometers of canals in the area, and placed 15 pumping stations. Speaking of Bahr Al Baqar Wastewater Treatment Plant launched in 2021, the completion rate of the two canals transporting treated water to land to be reclaimed in North and Central Sinai is nine percent.
