General News of Tuesday, 3 May 2022Source: www.ghanaweb.comMahama urges government to cut down on expenditureNDC pledges to restore country back on path of progressMahama pledges to scrap E-Levy if elected in 2025Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sack the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta over economic mismanagement. John Mahama in a May 2, 2022 lecture titled ‘Ghana At A Crossroads’ indicated that those responsible for plunging the country into an economic crisis cannot be left to go scot-free. He cited Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, in particular, and his cronies accusing them of using his private company to benefit from every borrowing it does on behalf of the country. John Mahama further charged President Akufo-Addo to appoint a finance minister who will serve the national interest rather than his self-interest. Government has, however, partly blamed the challenges on the ravages of Covid-19 and the recent Russia-Ukraine war.
