As different members of the administration and their allies give shifting versions of why Trump moved against Iran now, the question arises: Has the president achieved his presumed objective of knocking the Epstein files off the front page? On Feb. 24, NPR reported that 65,000 pages of Epstein files, originally released as part of the 6 million-page dump by the Justice Department, had somehow disappeared from the publicly available documents. Hillary Clinton didn't recall ever encountering Epstein. Bondi will testify (or menacingly point her well-manicured finger — we'll have to see) about why it has taken so long to release the Epstein files. As with our many Middle East misadventures, for the Epstein files there really is no end in sight.

LOADING ERROR LOADINGWASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration on Wednesday opened a new trade investigation into manufacturing in foreign countries — an effort that comes after the Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump’s previous use of tariffs by declaring an economic emergency. But U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, in a Wednesday call with reporters, said he didn’t want to prejudge the outcome of the process. Greer described the trade frameworks as standing on their own and suggested they were separate from the new investigation. The administration is also rolling out a Section 301 investigation to ban the importing of goods made by forced labor. The Commerce Department has separate trade investigations under Section 232 of the 1962 Trade Expansion Act.

President Donald Trump’s critics claim he has taken the United States to war in Iran with no coherent endgame in mind, while some of his own skittish advisers are urging him to end the war prematurely. Three levels of success in Iran are all within Trump’s grasp:Level One: The United States eliminates the regime’s ability to project force beyond its borders. Level Two: The Iranian regime collapses and is replaced by a new government answerable to Washington. But the initial phase of combat operations is primarily focused not on Iran’s leaders, but on eliminating Iran’s air defenses and retaliatory capabilities. By disarming Iran, Trump is already doing more for Middle East peace than has any other president in the modern era.

While the Sharks are 6th in their division, they remain very much in the hunt for a wild card spot in the Western Conference. He won’t win, but should at least be in the Hart Trophy conversation this summer. This visit is part of an Eastern swing for San Jose, who kicked off their road trip with a 6-3 loss in Buffalo on Tuesday. Team defense and goaltending have been issues for San Jose this season, with the Sharks allowing the sixth-most goals in the league (217, or 3.5 per game).
