Pepper-Jackson’s family argued, and the lower courts agreed, that the state’s law violated her rights to equal protection and Title IX. AdvertisementMooppan, the Trump administration lawyer, argued that the state’s law is legitimate because so few trans women play sports. His statement is a bit ironic, considering that President Donald Trump has rolled back trans rights in part by focusing an outsized amount on this low number of trans athletes. AdvertisementHecox and Pepper-Jackson are the only known athletes in their states who would be subject to the laws affecting trans athletes. Exclusion drools!”Across the barrier, one woman, who declined to give her name, said she flew in from Arizona to demonstrate her opposition to trans girls playing in girls’ sports.

But should the president again opt for a military option in Iran — after striking its nuclear facilities over the summer — he’ll really be pressing his political luck. Polls last year repeatedly showed Americans were quite concerned about further involvement in conflicts with both Iran and Venezuela. A June Reuters-Ipsos poll conducted shortly after the Iran strikes showed they were modestly unpopular, with 36% supporting them and 45% opposing them. Maxar TechnologiesBut one thing united Americans back then: being done with it all. Asked whether they wanted to “immediately” end US involvement in Iran, Americans leapt at that option by 30 points, 55%-25%.

Following the New York Times' announcement Tuesday that it would be doing away with its premium online content, Rupert Murdoch hinted that the Wall Street Journal may be considering a similar move in the future at a conference for media held by Goldman Sachs in New York. Many have said giving away WSJ content online for free may hurt the paper's overall revenues, however Murdoch says he isn't buying that argument. The media mogul seems to be following the same reasoning that the Times did: that by opening it up, and with good content, the revenues from selling advertising on its pages could far surpass any revenues it may have made off a subscription-only format. The current format has constrained any considerable online advertising, as it has caused the sites customer base to be more US-centric, and consumers generally frown upon ads in premium services.

Peggy Flanagan, a former Minneapolis School Board member, joined other Minnesota officials in demanding that ICE leave the state. In St. Paul, the district has asked impacted families to contact their child’s principal for help enrolling in its existing online school. Students in most Minnesota districts have yet to return to pre-pandemic academic achievement levels, according to an analysis in the Minnesota Reformer. “Districts really want to serve these students in person — that’s generally the most effective,” said Scott Croonquist, executive director of the Association of Metropolitan School Districts. Before COVID-19, online schools — then often of shoddy quality — had to earn state approval to operate, and temporary school closures were governed by rules addressing severe winter weather.

The prominent riverside area sits south of the National Mall near the memorials to President Franklin D. The golf course also abuts a less legally restricted area, the picnic grounds at East Potomac Park’s southern tip. It’s unclear whether the golf course, or other sites, are still in contention. The National Park Service and the Interior Department did not respond to requests for comment.

The court’s decision could affect similar laws in more than half the country. • In one of the more remarkable moments from the arguments, Chief Justice John Roberts quickly sought to distinguish the sports cases from a 2020 precedent that protects gay and transgender employees from workplace discrimination. By doing so, he eviscerated a central argument that had been raised by the American Civil Liberties Union and other lawyers challenging the bans. • Throughout the arguments, the justices similarly wrestled with the question of whether transgender girls who have taken hormone therapy really have some inherent advantage in sports just because they were born male. • Attorneys for the transgender students urged the justices to send the cases back down to lower courts for a more thorough factual record to be developed – particularly on the question of whether transgender girls have some inherent advantages on girls teams.

President Donald Trump speaks at the Detroit Economic Club in Detroit, Michigan, on Jan. 13, 2026. One guy is trying to sell hydrogen?” he said on a detour about fuel-cell powered electric cars, apparently unaware of the explosive characteristics of gasoline vapor. AdvertisementAnd while describing his efforts to pressure the pharmaceutical industry to lower drug prices, Trump again adopted his nonsensical approach to arithmetic: “They’re going to be coming down thousands of percents. In reality, grocery prices have not been coming down, and inflation numbers released Tuesday showed that food prices increased last month at the fastest pace since 2022. While inflation was high under Biden in 2021 and 2022 as the economy rebounded from the pandemic, there was no stagflation, as steady growth continued throughout.
