Reps. Chris Pappas (D-New Hampshire) and Maggie Goodlander (D-New Hampshire) plan to introduce a companion bill in the House. “Our new bill responds directly to the concerns we’ve heard from local officials in towns like Merrimack, New Hampshire, and across the country,” Shaheen said in a statement. The bill would prohibit DHS from setting up new processing sites or detention centers unless local officials and the state’s governor sign off. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi) relayed local officials’ concerns about a proposed facility in his state to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem earlier this month. Democrats appear to have had less success in pushing back on the administration’s plans to build new detention centers and processing sites.

Friends, family and even strangers began asking me confrontational questions:Had I eaten too much red meat? It was natural to want a tangible reason for a healthy young person to suddenly be facing a life-threatening disease, wasn’t it? And though we may wish otherwise, avoiding known lifestyle risk factors does not safeguard a person from cancer. At this point, I’ve lost count of how often I’ve had to reassure a newly diagnosed person that they’re not to blame for getting sick. In particular, cancer among young women has skyrocketed, with diagnosis rates in women under 50 now 82% higher than in their male counterparts.

Kouri Richins told investigators her husband would sometimes take THC gummies before bed – and that she believed they could have contained fentanyl. Eric Richins told the other friend he broke out in hives, then injected himself with an EpiPen and drank a bottle of Benadryl.

Today, we want to hear your story: How you became a fan of the Atlanta Falcons. I wasn’t much of an NFL fan during the time I lived in Ohio — I was a huge Buckeyes fan, but as far as professional sports, we were more of a Major League Baseball family. We won tickets to see the Falcons play the Minnesota Vikings in the Georgia Dome during the 2005 season — my very first NFL game. The Falcons won 30-10, and I was obsessed. When did you first become a Falcons fan?

U.S. Secret Service agents and a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man who entered the secure perimeter of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate early Sunday morning, the Secret Service said in a statement. “At that point in time, the deputy and the two Secret Service agents fired their weapons” and shot and killed the man, who died at the scene, Bradshaw said. Bradshaw said the incident happened “just inside the inner perimeter” of Mar-a-Lago, near the estate’s north gate. The gunman was killed by the Secret Service. One suspects that nobody really knows what the Atlanta Falcons are going to do with Michael Penix Jr., including the Atlanta Falcons themselves. That’s not going to stop anyone from wildly speculating, or turning to league sources. “There are some definite concerns there about Penix taking the next step on several levels. I think they’re going to be in on everything. We’ve speculated about who that quarterback might be, but it’s an absolute given that they’re going to find a way to get a player with starting upside, experience, or both.

The Department of Homeland Security reversed course Sunday morning after saying that it would suspend TSA PreCheck because of the partial government shutdown. “TSA PreCheck remains operational with no change for the traveling public,” the Transportation Security Administration said in a statement. TSA PreCheck and Global Entry are two popular programs that allow some travelers to move more quickly through airport security. Saturday’s announcement that TSA PreCheck would be suspended had drawn swift criticism. The partial shutdown of DHS operations stems from a standoff in Congress over the appropriations bill that provides money for the department.

Longtime friends and allies of Joe Biden say they are worried about the toll an aggressive form of prostate cancer is taking on the former president and his health. Biden, 83, announced last May that he was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer that had metastasized to the bone. Oncologists said some men with advanced prostate cancer can live many years with effective treatment while others deteriorate rapidly. “Bone metastasis is the most common place prostate cancer spreads but the degree is important and how it’s found,” Moul said. It is also common for metastatic prostate cancer to spread to the spine, said Gerald Denis, Shipley Prostate Cancer Research professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
