The newly approved Wegovy pill contains semaglutide, the same active ingredient used in injectable Wegovy and the diabetes drug Ozempic. The injectable Wegovy showed around 15% weight loss in its main trial. Under an agreement announced in November, the starting dose of the Wegovy pill will cost $149 for patients paying out of pocket. The Wegovy pill is one of two oral GLP-1 drugs expected to reach the market soon. In separate trials, orforglipron showed average weight loss of about 11% over 72 weeks at its highest dose.

A magnitude 2.6 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning at 9:08 a.m. in the waters off Malibu, about four miles from the city, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The earthquake occurred nine miles from Westlake Village, 10 miles from Thousand Oaks, 12 miles from Agoura Hills and 14 miles from Calabasas. In the last 10 days, there have been three earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 8.5 miles. Libyan officials said the cause of the crash was a technical malfunction on the plane. Al-Hadad was the top military commander in western Libya and played a crucial role in the ongoing, U.N.-brokered efforts to unify Libya’s military, which has split, much like Libya’s other institutions. The four other officers who died in the crash were Gen. Al-Fitouri Ghraibil, the head of Libya’s ground forces, Brig. Libya was also expected to send a team to Ankara to work with Turkish authorities investigating the crash. Turkey deployed troops following a 2019 security and military cooperation agreement that was reached between Ankara and the Tripoli-based government.
