Yuki Iwamura/APMinneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey reiterated that local police will do their jobs but will not carry out federal immigration enforcement, responding to criticism from President Donald Trump this morning. “The job of our police is to keep people safe, not enforce fed immigration laws. I want them preventing homicides, not hunting down a working dad who contributes to MPLS & is from Ecuador. Everyone should feel safe calling 911,” Frey said, referring to Trump ally Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City. Frey’s comments came in response to a social media post from Trump this morning, in which the president warned that the mayor would be violating federal law by not enforcing immigration operations.

Moore said he was trained in the 1980s to avoid engaging with moving vehicles, yet “40 years later, you see not just one occasion but multiple occasions of those tactics” from immigration agents. The Trump administration said that Pretti had a gun, and that the officers had acted in self-defense. Gupta said the immigration agents’ tactics were “out of line” with local, state and federal policing standards and “offensive to all of that work that has been done” to establish those standards. Rob Bonta reminded California law enforcement that they have the right to investigate federal agents for violating state law.

One member of our group is the HOA president and has held that position for more than 20 years. There’s almost no communication from our HOA board on property repairs or future projects. I addressed this lack of transparency with our HOA president many times over the years and offered my help to the HOA board to improve communication and transparency but was dismissed. Since then, I helped organize a group of owners to address our concerns with the HOA board. We belong to a running group that is more about having beers together than actually running for fitness.
