Members of the largest unions representing teachers and nonteachers participate in joint rally at Grand Park in March 2023. The scene will be repeated on Wednesday, with union members once again on the verge of a strike. With contract negotiations at a standstill, leaders of the Los Angeles teachers union are widely expected on Wednesday to announce the date of a strike that, if carried out, would interrupt the education of about 390,000 students. In late January, union members voted overwhelmingly to give their leadership the authority to call a strike at its discretion. That union’s members also have authorized their union’s leaders to call a strike at their discretion.

Im guessing the critical people of the WNBA in this thread also probably dont like the NBA and are critical of its product (amazing and thriving FYI). In fact, I watch way more WNBA than I do college sports because I hate the college landscape and theyve lost me as a fan at present. For those who seem to care about "sunk costs" and "subsidizing," what does that say about USC? Should we just say all other sports are sunk costs as well and just not have them? I am not sure of the argument that people are trying to make other than to project their hate of the NBA (Lebron amiright?)

A segment of Elex Michaelson‘s The Story Is on CNN was censored last night just as the network’s correspondent in Beijing, Mike Valerio, began describing the topics that trigger the Middle Kingdom’s censors. '”Valerio said that he was watching the network’s China feed even as he spoke with Michaelson. “Color bars are up.”The feed to the U.S. was uninterrupted, however, and the interview continued. “Wow, that’s amazing.”Later in the broadcast, Michaelson asked Valerio if the network was back on the air in China. Along with the aforementioned color bars, accompanying text in English read, “No signal please stand by.”

After Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib was killed in an overnight strike, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz promised “significant surprises” to come. A day earlier, Israel killed top Iranian security official Ali Larijani and the head of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard’s Basij force, Gen. Gholam Reza Soleimani. AdvertisementIran retaliated Wednesday by unleashing attacks against its Persian Gulf neighbors and Israel, where two people were killed near Tel Aviv. I know for a fact that he was aware of those potentials. I raised the option of regime change in Iran several times during the time I was national security adviser. And one reason was that others had different views, and every time I raised it, they raised a whole long list of difficulties that are entailed by a regime change campaign. So he knew about it in his first term. I find it hard to believe that he forgot about it in the intervening years.

Elizabeth Hannon, deputy editor of the British Journal for the Philosophy of Science (BJPS), has a query about other philosophy journals. She says, “What I’d like to know is how much time journals give referees to return their reports.”She adds that “the BJPS gives one month, though of course plenty of people are far quicker than this and we’re happy to offer deadline extensions to those who need them.”Editorial teams at philosophy journals, please let us know in the comments.
