The odds of an all-out war between North and South Korea are very low, but they aren’t zero. The capital and surrounding areas account for 81% of South Korea’s chip production and 34% of its total manufacturing output. South Korea produces 4% of all electronic components used in factories worldwide, and around 40% of all memory chips. Putin’s pact with North Korea, along with Kim’s recent threats to “annihilate” his southern neighbor, have laid bare the risks facing South Korea. Southeast Asia, Japan and Taiwan — dependent on South Korea’s chips and vulnerable to maritime disruptions — take the biggest hit.

Clear air turbulence, the invisible peril haunting the skies, is expected to intensify with climate change, scientists warn. Researchers have determined that from 1980 to 2021, the frequency of clear air turbulence increased in the Northern Hemisphere. This might be a bolt from the blue for many, as clear air turbulence is generally unexpected and, unlike other turbulence types, difficult to detect and avoid. Danger of clear air turbulenceThe dangers associated with turbulence might be well-known to those who frequently fly, but clear air turbulence, being invisible and unpredictable, poses a unique threat. “We now have high confidence that climate change is increasing clear air turbulence in some regions,” noted Foudad.

Climate experts utilized 11 climate models and 20 computer simulations to anticipate changes in clear-air turbulence under various scenarios of temperature rises ranging from 1 to 4 degrees Celsius. BoeingWhat Is Clear-Air Turbulence? Clear-air turbulence is commonly found near jet streams at altitudes of 10-12 kilometers, where commercial planes travel.
