South Korea on Saturday expressed disappointment after its athletes were incorrectly introduced as North Korean at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. The South Korean Sports ministry expressed “regret over the announcement during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics". The Speaker repeated the same introduction for the North Korean delegation. The Sports Ministry has also directed the foreign ministry to “deliver a strong protest to the French side” on the matter. The blunder comes at a time when ties between North Korea and South Korea have hit a new low with North strengthening its military ties with Russia and South sending K-pop and anti-regime messages via border loudspeakers and conducting live-fire exercises on border islands.

In 2009, Morocco sent humanitarian relief to Gaza inhabitants and received 200 wounded who benefited from necessary medical care. In 2018, another medical & surgical field hospital of the Royal Armed Forces was deployed in Gaza. Upon royal instructions, Morocco sent last March large quantities of humanitarian aid directly to Gazans and Al-Quds population, in coordination with the Egyptian authorities – via the Rafah crossing. Four months later, the North African Kingdom sent 40 tons of medical aid to Gazans. Like the previous relief operations sent to Palestinians, a large part of the aid was paid by the King from his personal funds.

Morocco is poised to become Africa's largest vehicle producer, overtaking South Africa, which has long been the continent's undisputed leader. As reported by Le Matin, the study projects that vehicle production in Morocco will reach approximately 614,000 units this year, while in South Africa it will fall to 591,000 units. In addition, the Moroccan industry benefits from the interest of Chinese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), which seek to maintain their access to the European market. On the other hand, South Africa faces significant challenges that are holding back its production. In contrast, South Africa faces a less favourable operating environment, marked by challenges related to emissions, labour, trade and transport issues.

South Korea wrongly introduced as North Korea at OlympicsOlympic organisers have issued a "deep apology" after South Korea's athletes were mistakenly introduced as North Korea at the opening ceremony in Paris. As the excited, flag-waving team floated down the River Seine, both French and English announcers introduced them as the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea" - the official name of North Korea. The same name was then used - correctly - when North Korea's delegation sailed past. The two Koreas have been divided since the end of World War Two, with tensions between the states further escalating recently.

PARIS (AP) — Olympic Games organizers said they “deeply apologize” for introducing South Korea’s athletes as North Korea during the opening ceremony in Paris. South Korea is the Republic of Korea. Bach called South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Saturday and apologized over the incident, Yoon’s office said in a statement. The Korean peninsula has been bitterly divided into South Korea and North Korea since the end of World War II in 1945. The blue sign on the boat carrying the South Korean athletes did show the correct name.

South Korea expressed regret that its delegation of athletes at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony on Friday was introduced as from rival North Korea and has demanded assurances from organisers the mistake will not happen again. As the boat carrying South Korean athletes passed on the Seine, the announcer introduced them as the “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” – the official name of North Korea – in French and English. The announcer used the same introduction when the North Korean delegation passed. “We express regret that the country was introduced as North Korea at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games when the athletes of the Republic of Korea were entering,” it said. RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A federal judge ruled Friday that a provision in North Carolina’s abortion laws requiring doctors to document the location of a pregnancy before prescribing abortion pills should be blocked permanently, affirming that it was too vague to be enforced reasonably. Unlike challenges in other states like South Carolina and Florida that sought to fully strike down abortion laws, Eagles’ decisions still mean most of North Carolina’s abortion laws updated since the end of Roe v. Wade are in place. Eagles on Friday affirmed blocking the clause in the abortion law requiring physicians to document the “intrauterine location of a pregnancy” before distributing medication abortion. But Eagles wrote the medication in a medication abortion doesn’t exacerbate the risks of complications from an ectopic pregnancy. The lawsuit was initially filed in June 2023 and contained other challenges to the abortion law that the legislature quickly addressed with new legislation.

Chinese ambassador to Morocco Li Changlin said that the country had “become a new hotspot for Chinese companies to invest overseas ”. He said the non-tariff barriers imposed on Chinese electric vehicles by the US and EU complicated direct access to these markets. “By setting up production in Morocco, Chinese companies can bypass these obstacles by producing locally and meeting the necessary standards from the outset. Berry noted that the Inflation Reduction Act rules and US tariffs on Chinese EVs would blunt Chinese EV market penetration. “The US government has been pressuring Mexico, for example, to curb or eliminate incentives for Chinese EV companies to manufacture there,” he said.
