Hasan Mollah, 45, general secretary of the Hazratpur Union unit of BNP, has died after being shot in Hazratpur, Keraniganj, Dhaka, police said. He passed away around 3:45 pm on Saturday at Holy Family Hospital while receiving treatment, said Keraniganj Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saiful Islam. The OC told the Dhaka Tribune: “The BNP leader died this afternoon while receiving treatment. Operations are underway to arrest those involved.”On Thursday, unidentified assailants opened fire on Mollah in front of the Ward-9 BNP office in Jagannathpur village of Hazratpur Union. He was critically injured and initially taken to Square Hospital in Dhaka.

The environment adviser made the remarks while speaking at an event titled 'Road to Green Manifesto: Dialogue with Political Parties' organized by non-profit organization Brigeters at the Department of Environment (DoE) in Agargaon, Dhaka. She said about 13 percent of air pollution comes from brick kilns. In addition, road dust, open construction materials, and waste burning are the main causes of air pollution, she said.

Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup will be decided by the federal government, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi said on Saturday, following Bangladesh’s removal from the tournament. “Whether we play in the T20 World Cup or not, the decision will be taken by the government,” Naqvi said. BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday visited the grave of his younger brother Arafat Rahman Koko on the occasion of his 11th death anniversary and later joined a doa and milad mahfil. Tarique, accompanied by family members including his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman, daughter Zaima Rahman and Koko’s wife Syeda Shameela Rahman, went to the Banani Graveyard in the afternoon, said BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan. A munajat was offered for the eternal peace of Arafat Rahman Koko's departed soul, and the well-being of his family.
