A Facebook post about the termination of the Kings Mountain’s annual Christmas light show stirred up an outcry in the community Wednesday. Just hours following Tuesday municipal elections and a change in leadership, the post on the Kings Mountain Fantasy Light Show Facebook page announced the end of the show. The popular light show, which includes a variety of lights set to music, has been a longstanding tradition. “Per the City of Kings Mountain and the head of the Special Events Department, the Kings Mountain Fantasy Light Show will no longer be happening,” the post by Jeff Ward stated. In the meantime, he wanted to reassure Kings Mountain residents he is still dedicated to his position as mayor until he hands over the reins to Wagman.

SASKATCHEWAN, Canada – A quick-moving storm system that dropped frozen precipitation through southern Canada and into the Northeast U.S. could be responsible for the poor weather conditions reported at the time of a bus crash involving Shania Twain’s tour crew. Country singer Shania Twain was not reported to be on the bus at the time of the crash. "One crew bus and one truck from the Shania Twain - ‘Queen Of Me’ tour were involved in a highway accident driving between Winnipeg and Saskatoon," Twain’s rep stated. The storm system did not produce historically high amounts of snow or ice, but it was many drivers' first encounter with treacherous wintry conditions this season. The RCMP said the exact circumstances surrounding Twain’s crew bus crash were still under investigation.

This was the largest antiwar or international solidarity mobilization in Montréal since the 2003 protests against the invasion of Iraq. The largest Palestine solidarity demonstration in Canadian history concluded in front of CBC’s office to highlight pro-Israel media bias. At the end of the march, I was asked to speak outside the CBC/Radio-Canada offices as part of protesting Canadian media coverage of the 10,000 Palestinians killed in recent weeks. CBC English has mandated its reporters not to use the word “Palestine.” In 2019, they even forced a radio host to apologize for using the word Palestine when interviewing an author who published a graphic novel titled Palestine! As thousands chanted in front of CBC “every time the media lies another family in Gaza dies.”Did you like this article?

CAPE BRETON, NS - The Cougars continue to build their historical legacy after beating the York Lions 1-0 in the 2023 U SPORTS Nationals quarter-final match hosted at Cape Breton University in Sydney, NS, Thursday evening.Although the match was incredibly intense and physical from the first whistle to the final, the majority of the game remained scoreless. With two yellow cards and 15 fouls called on each team, it was clear neither opponent was going to go down without a fight. It could have gone either way; I thought York played amazing and was very well coached; it was a great game of football. I'm so proud of the boys and I'm so excited to move on to the semi-final match tomorrow. Not only is the men's soccer team the first Cougars team to win gold in the Canada West Championship, but they are also the first MRU team to enter into the U SPORTS Nationals in the No.

My wife spends many hours at work, even when the business is closed. I don't ask my wife to contribute much; she spends most of her money on clothes, hair and shoes. Sometimes my wife goes to work even on Saturdays. So, your wife should listen to good advice and cherish your relationship more than the money she is earning. I believe that you trust your wife, but you want a wife who is committed to the relationship.

One of Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s favourite battle cries is “Defund the CBC!”Lantsman focused on CBC’s coverage of the current war between Israel and Hamas. Nonetheless, a headline that read “Palestinians say hundreds killed in Israeli airstrike on hospital. The IHRA brings together experts and government representatives from more than 50 countries, including Canada, to advance the cause of Holocaust education. They argue some of its references to Israel could be invoked to stigmatize legitimate criticism of Israeli policies and practices. APP has also denied it ever collaborated behind the scenes with Paper Excellence or shared confidential information with it. The committee has heard from some top Paper Excellence officials but has not yet heard from two witnesses on its list: Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne and Paper Excellence owner Wijaya. We don't know the relationship with Asia Pulp & Paper.

November 9, 2023 —Frank Deer, an education professor at the University of Manitoba who focuses on Indigenous language education and Indigenous religious and spiritual orientations in schools, said he’s glad to hear the news. He said it’s important for schools to consider how they can move toward reconciliation. “It’s no surprise to me that this might be one of the next steps in the reconciliatory journey,” he told CBC. “After we’ve begun these conversations about the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis experience across the territories, you do get to a point where you begin to wonder about the manner in which we celebrate things and the way we observe things.”Read here

As drought conditions persist, it gets harder to grow feed because the moisture deficit in the soil worsens year after year. CBC Saskatchewan is looking for residents who want to write a First Person column about the real-life impact of the changing planet. How are extreme droughts or severe wildfires changing the way you imagine your future? Are you changing the way you eat, driving less, or changing the way you heat (or cool) your house?
