When asked for comment by CBC News, Telus said that while it has made the offer to 2,000 workers, it will cap the actual number of packages it would accept far lower. "We are offering a voluntary separation package to 2,000 team members, and anticipate several hundred to accept the offer.

That bit of history is just one of the many inconsistencies stemming from our increasingly incomprehensible relationship with the British monarchy. It may be a component of our democratic tradition, but our democracy also involves incremental, progressive evolution away from monarchy. According to the survey, nearly 90 per cent of us who want to sever ties with the monarchy think those complicated constitutional debates are worth having. “Once we cease to think that the monarchy is important, that fact alone will render them unimportant,” said Hutchinson. With nearly three-quarters saying constitutional monarchy isn’t worth preserving, we may be only one major royal scandal away from reopening the Constitution.

Perhaps it is his age — approaching a fit and robust 90 — but I fear his memory may be failing him. He and his Liberal government did not, in fact, bring in same-sex marriage. I have been tossed around the system all morning looking for a physician to renew her prescription, with the final statement being “Take her to Urgent Care.” Do we want to sit at Urgent Care for four or five hours for a simple renewal? Not likely when the name “Urgent Care” signifies why the facility is there. National Post and Financial Post welcome letters to the editor (150 words or fewer).

In the study, researchers from the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) and Finland’s Aalto University, offered new projections for the mean sea level rise in Finland over the next century. “The greatest effects of sea level rise will only be felt after 2100,” the FMI said in a news release. “If we do not succeed in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, sea level may rise by several metres over the following centuries. “Sea level rise will increase flood risks on Finland’s southern coast in the coming decades,” the FMI said. “If global emissions could be mitigated quickly, the sea level in Helsinki would rise by about 9 cm by the end of this century,” the FMI said.

(Leila Navidi/Star Tribune via AP, File)Minnesota lawmakers have passed a bill that would provide more protection for warehouse workers who have to meet productivity quotas, a move aimed at helping employees at companies like Amazon. The protections were included in a broader omnibus bill passed 34-33 on Tuesday evening by the Minnesota Senate. AdvertisementThe bill prohibits companies from firing or taking any adverse actions against an employee for failing to meet a quota that has not been disclosed to them. The bill mirrors similar laws passed in recent years in New York and California that attempt to regulate how Amazon surveys workers in its vast number of warehouses. Amazon has said it doesn’t have fixed quotas, but has “performance expectations” for workers based on how their peers perform at particular sites.

While kelp is gaining popularity as a climate-friendly superfood, a new analysis is shining light on the economic opportunity it could present for one of Canada’s smallest provinces. On Wednesday, environmental charity Ecology Action Centre (EAC) released its Roadmap for Nova Scotia Kelp Farming. To put that in perspective, Atlantic Sea Farms — which produces the lion’s share of kelp in Maine, the hub of kelp farming in the United States — harvested one million pounds, which is around 453,000 kilos, of kelp in 2022. After decades of farming in the sea, he said he is amazed at how accessible kelp farming is. Once you put it out, you don't have to do anything.” Kelp harvesting in Nova Scotia.

DeSantis was responding to a question Tuesday about Trump’s comments in The Messenger about the six-week ban that DeSantis recently signed into law. The rivalry between Trump and DeSantis is heating up as DeSantis nears a decision on a presidential campaign. “For my part, I disagree with President Trump about the heartbeat bill,” Pence told reporters Tuesday night after an event in Concord, New Hampshire. “We’re looking at a lot of different things,“ he said when asked by The Associated Press whether he supports a federal abortion ban.
