It would be one of the strictest ID requirements for absentee voters in the country.“We already have a voter ID law in Michigan,” Sen. Jeff Irwin, D-Ann Arbor, said. “There really is no need for this additional voter ID law on steroids. They will resume debate on those restrictions Thursday.The bill now advances to the state House. If it’s approved, Whitmer is expected to veto it.But Republicans are using another route to circumvent a gubernatorial veto.

SUDBURY — An incident involving fireworks on Friday has forced the Lincoln-Sudbury football team to call an audible before its upcoming game. But as a result of the incident, L-S school officials decided to move the Warriors’ game this week. Only two parents (or guardians) of A-B and L-S senior players will be allowed to attend. Police are searching for the person who shot and killed a transgender woman in Arlington, a city in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area, last Thursday. Upon arrival, they discovered the woman inside the car had been fatally shot. The victim has since been identified as 21-year-old Kiér Laprí Kartier, a transgender female and Dallas native. Police say that the car in which Kartier was seated was running, and the driver’s side door was open. “These attacks on our community must stop, and we need to direct resources toward supporting and protecting transgender and non-binary people.”See also:

The discussion, "On the Frontlines — Organizations and Services Combating Interpersonal Violence in the MetroWest and Greater Massachusetts," starts at 7 p.m. and is free. The forum, which aims to shine a light and remove any stigma around domestic violence, will also accept questions from the public. The MetroWest Commission on the Status of Women, which was enacted by law and established in 2015, strives to provide a permanent, effective voice for women living and working in the region. It works at the local level to raise awareness and advocate for issues affecting women in the 28 communities it represents in MetroWest and Greater Milford.

The United States ended a 40-year ban on crude exports in late 2015 and now ships out more than 3 million barrels of crude daily. “I don’t think we’re at a point where we want to limit exports of crude oil or natural gas,” Cunningham said.

Russia might rebrand LGBTQ organizations as “extremist” groups in order to ban them. LGBTQ groups, as well as radical feminist and child-free groups, would be considered “extremism,” under a new proposal from Russia’s communications regulator, the Moscow Times reports. In practice, it would allow Russia to treat LGBTQ groups like neo-Nazi organizations and those considered opponents of the government or enemies of the state. Russia’s ban on “gay propaganda” has been internationally condemned for discriminating against LGBTQ people. The European Court of Human Rights has twice ruled that Russia’s propaganda ban violates the rights of LGBTQ people and LGBTQ organizations.

A Catholic priest in Pennsylvania has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $30,000 from his church and using the money to fund Grindr dates and sexual relationships. Monsignor Joseph McLoone, former priest at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Downingtown, Pa., was arrested in 2019 following a yearlong police investigation.
