CAIRO – 19 August 2022: A bus crashed into a truck in Upper Egypt’s Minya during the past hours, killing six people and injuring 22 others, according to local reports on Friday morning. Ambulances arrived at the scene and the injured, all of which are from southern Egypt, were hospitalized. Last month, 23 people were killed and 30 others were injured as a truck collided into a bus on Cairo-Assiut Road in Upper Egypt. Earlier in July, Upper Egypt saw another deadly accident when a bus collided into a truck on Aswan-Abu Simbel Road, killing nine people and wounding 44 others. A car crash in Aswan last month also killed two people and wounded eight others on Edfu-Marsa Alam Road.

CAIRO – 18 August 2022: The Indian Embassy in Cairo released Thursday a report on the relations of both countries on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of their establishment. The embassy affirmed that a large Indian delegation will attend COP 27 hosted by Egypt in Sharm El Sheikh on November 7-18. The embassy noted that Egypt's hosting of COP 27 showcases Egypt's ability to play a decisive role in global issues. As for trade exchange, it grew 75 percent in 2021-2022, recording its highest with $7.26 billion. In addition, the institutional framework to bolster trade exchange and joint investments has been activated earlier in 2022.

CAIRO – 17 August 2022: Five military planes have delivered tons of relief aid to Sudan via an air bridge that extended over several days as per the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. In a statement on Wednesday, the Egyptian military spokesman said the planes carried large quantities of tents, blankets, food, medicines, and medical supplies presented by both ministries of defense and health. The aid aims to contribute to alleviate the burden on the Sudanese brothers and comes “within the framework of Egypt’s support and solidarity with the brotherly Sudanese people in various crises and difficulties,” the statement added. In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed full solidarity with Sudan in light of the fraternal ties binding both countries. Flooding caused by torrential rains in Sudan have killed dozens of people and damaged or destroyed thousands of homes.

CAIRO - 17 August 2022: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced the examination of 155,000 children, as part of the President’s initiative for early detection of genetic diseases in newborns. This comes under the initiative of the “100 million healthy lives”, with the aim of reaching a healthy generation free from disabilities. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the first phase of the initiative aims to detect 19 genetic diseases in premature babies, in the nurseries of the Ministry of Health and Population hospitals. He added that the second phase of the initiative is scheduled to conduct a medical survey for all newborns in all units.
