CAIRO – 1 May 2022: First Lady Intissar al-Sisi extended greetings to Egyptian workers on Sunday marking the country's Labor Day. "The workers of Egypt are our real wealth, and the point of departure towards better future and reality. Throughout the past year, Egyptians epitomized the prioritization of the value of work aimed at building a homeland characterized by pride and dignity," the First Lady said on Facebook. President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi had earlier delivered a speech to greet Egyptian workers, and showcase achievements pertaining to improving their living conditions.

CAIRO - 1 May 2022: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi made phone calls Saturday evening to six Arab leaders greeting them on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr. The president exchanged greetings with his Iraqi counterpart Barham Saleh; King Hamad Bin Eisa al-Khalifa of Bahrain; Sultan Haitham Bin Tarek of Oman; Emir Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani of Qatar; King Abdullah II of Jordan; and, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed Bin Zayed al-Nahyan. Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi had extended Friday greetings to Egyptians abroad on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, which starts this year early in May, the country’s Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported. “Brothers and sisters, the Muslim sons of Egypt abroad, I am pleased to convey to you my most heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the Blessed Eid Al-Fitr,” Sisi said in a cable of greeting circulated by the Egyptian embassies and consulates. The president prayed to God Almighty to make this Eid a blessed and happy occasion.

CAIRO – 30 April 2022: Egypt condemned on Saturday the terrorist explosion at a mosque in the Afghan capital of Kabul, killing and injures scores of innocent people. “Egypt extends its sincere condolences to Afghanistan and the families of the victims of these brutal terrorist operations,” the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. “Egypt also reaffirms the importance of concerted efforts to combat all forms and manifestations of the phenomenon of terrorism, violence, and extremism,” the statement added. A powerful explosion at the Khalifa Sahib Mosque in the Afghan capital claimed the lives of over 50 worshippers after Friday prayers, the mosque’s head was cited by Reuters as saying. Similar blasts over recent weeks have claimed the lives of scores of Aghan civilians, with the Islamic State (IS) claiming responsibility for some of the attacks.

CAIRO - 30 April 2022: The Health Ministry said Saturday that the average of the daily new coronavirus cases stood at 46 during the past week, while deaths registered 5. In a statement, the Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the daily average of recoveries recorded 62, bringing the total number of recoveries to 445,139. The minister's statements coincide with the World Immunization Week 2022, observed from April 24 till April 30. According to latest WHO updates 34.1 million people in Egypt are fully vaccinated, which represents 33.4% of the population. In a statement, Ministry of Health Spokesman Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar saidthanks to the Ministry of Health and Population’s efforts over the past months, the rate of coronavirus vaccination in Egypt has increased.

CAIRO- 29 April 2022: Al Azhar condemned the terror attack on a mosque in Afghanistan's capital Kabul, leaving dozens of worshippers dead and injured. In a statement on Friday, Al Azhar rejected all forms of violence and terrorism that targeted places of worship. Al Azhar also offered its condolences to the Afghani people and the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Sisi directed the National Youth Conference management, in coordination with all political parties and youth currents, to conduct a political dialogue on the priorities of national actions during the current stage. The mayor of Mariupol said that more than 600 people were injured in Russian bombing that struck the makeshift hospital facility within the besieged Azovstal steel complex. The Azovstal plant was heavily bombed on Wednesday night, according to multiple accounts. Boichenko also claimed that the Russians had set up four “filtration” centers in the city where those who want to be evacuated are screened. “If someone leaves the city and he is, in one way or another, connected with the civil service, with the municipal service, they get the sad news that they go to prison. On Thursday evening, Egyptian media reported that a journalist in the state-run Al-Ahram newspaper has committed suicide in his office. The journalist, named Emad al-Fekky, committed suicide by hanging himself in his office on the fourth floor in the famous Al-Ahram newspaper building in downtown Cairo, in the early hours of Thursday morning, in what seems to be mysterious circumstances. Preliminary investigations showed that the person that committed suicide was a 54-year-old journalist in the news section of Al-Ahram newspaper. He committed suicide by hanging: his head separated from his body in the balcony of his office in the newspapers building. In response to these statements, Alaa Thabet, editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram newspaper spoke to Masrawy in an exclusive interview.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres visited the war-ravaged Ukrainian town of Bucha, which was associated with war crimes by Russian troops in Ukraine on Thursday. Guterres toured residential areas in the suburb of Kyiv and nearby town of Borodyanka, that were left largely in ruins when Russian troops pulled out. “This horrific scenario demonstrates something that is unfortunately always true — that civilians always pay the highest price. They were paying the highest price for a war for which they not contributed at all,” Guterres told journalists. Some officials in Kyiv have criticized Guterres’s itinerary after the UN chief met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday.

Last month witnessed several positive economic developments that did much to reassure the public. CAIRO - 28 April 2022: Botanical Garden in Aswan governorate, south of Egypt, is prepared to receive visitors during Eid al-Fitr holiday, as it hosts 720 rare plant species worldwide. The garden, according to its director Dr. Amr Mahmoud, is one of the preferred destinations during such occasions, as it receives thousands of visitors on holidays. Dr. Amr Mahmoud also explained that the Botanical Garden in Aswan contains 720 rare plant species, and was formed by silt deposition before the construction of the High Dam on the rocks in the Nile River. He pointed out that foreign tourists and Egyptians are keen to visit the garden, especially on occasions and during feasts. The garden opens its doors from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. every day.

In the Egyptian Family Iftar event that was held on Tuesday, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi announced that the government is paying more attention to the country’s industry by launching an initiative to support and localise national industries to rely on local products. This will be done by strengthening the role of the private sector in expanding the industrial base of large- and medium-sized industries. Localising national industries and deepening local components in products is an initiative that all manufacturers have been calling for over the past 15 years because it is the future of industry in Egypt, as industry is not based on assembly of spare parts only. Consequently, industry in Egypt lacks integration in order to achieve growth and become a strong competitor in exports and reduce imports, El-Sayyad added. Accordingly, localising national industries and relying on local products is important, but the industrial system also needs to improve the business climate in Egypt, increase industrial efficiency, and improve the competitiveness of local products in the global market.
