CAIRO - 5 September 2021: Mohamed Abdel Salam, Chairman of the Ready-made Garments Chamber at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, said that Egypt currently produces 80 percent of the local market's needs of ready-made garments and imports only 20 percent. He added that Egypt's annual exports of garments stand at $1.5 billion. Some 150 garment factories have been qualified to increase their production and boost exports, Abdel Salam noted.

Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity signed a grant agreement with the African Development Bank (ADB) and the Ministry of International Cooperation, totaling US$500,000 to help relieve families impacted by the economic and social repercussions of the pandemic. A ministry statement said that the grant comes under the umbrella of the “Emergency Humanitarian Relief Assistance Amidst COVID-19 Outbreak” initiative approved by Parliament on April 11. In this project, the ministry will rely on the databases of the poor and most vulnerable families of the Ministry of Solidarity, numbering 9.5 million families, in addition to databases of irregular employment at the Ministry of Manpower that amount to about four million families. The project is being carried out in cooperation with the Egyptian Food Bank, with its valuable experience and ability to provide food in the neediest areas and villages. CAIRO - 5 September 2020: Egypt received a second batch of the COVID-19 Johnson & Johnson vaccine (525,600 doses) on Saturday evening, announced Health Minister Hala Zayed in a statement on Sunday. He added the new shipment of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be distributed to the centers that vaccinate citizens who seek travel out of the country. On August 9, 2021, Egypt received the first patch of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine against coronavirus. The Ministry of Health also announced that five different vaccines are now available in nearly 539 vaccine centers across the country against coronavirus. CAIRO – 5 September 2021: On September 5, the Cervantes Institute [Spanish Cultural Center in Cairo], is organizing a ceremony to honor Khaled Salem, a well-known professor of Spanish literature and translator, in recognition of his career in the field of Spanish studies and translation between Arabic and Spanish. Salem translated about forty titles in a long journey that he started while studying for his BA and PhD in Comparative Literature at the Universidad de Madrid Autonoma. He wrote about Egyptian literature and Arab culture in El País and in other Spanish and Arabic publications in Egypt, Paris, London and the Persian Gulf. CAIRO – 5 September 2021: The Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theater, accepted the participation of 285 shows, 167 foreign shows, and 118 Egyptian shows. A viewing committee has begun to select the performances that will participate and compete for the festival's awards, according to a statement issued by the festival today. The Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theater will launch on December 14 and will run until December 19. The selected performances will either enter the official festival competition or will be staged on the sidelines of the festival. Participating performances will be staged within the festival’s program for two consecutive nights, and the shows can be presented for additional nights outside Cairo in prior coordination with the participating troupes.

CAIRO - 5 September 2020: A total of 331 new coronavirus cases were detected in Egypt over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 289,684, said the Egyptian Health Ministry in a statement on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, ten patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 16,776, the statement said. As many as 439 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 241,415, the statement added. Egypt has announced it has entered the fourth wave of Coronavirus as infection rates climbed up. The Ministry of Health also announced that five different vaccines are now available in nearly 539 vaccine centers across the country against coronavirus.

CAIRO – 5 September 2021: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Sunday the terror attack that incurred the death and injury of a number of Iraqi policemen in Kirkuk province. The ministry expressed condolences to the government and people of Iraq as well as the victims' families wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
