The Information Technology Advisor to the Health and Population Minister Aysam Salah announced Monday that the ministry will launch an application to register all recipients of the coronavirus vaccine. There will soon be two ways to prove who received the vaccine, he said, which are paper certificates and the application. The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced earlier this month that it is launching a health passport to detect vaccine evaders, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications. The ministry said in a statement that this electronic health passport will be used at airports to determine a person’s position on the COVID-19 vaccine. Another way of confirmation will be insured certificates for those who have received the vaccine, it added.

Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed announced Monday that the third shipment of the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccines has arrived, a total of 1,058,400 doses. The latest shipment of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be distributed to 1,100 vaccination centers throughout the governorates of the Egypt. The statement pointed out that the shipment will be subject to analyzes in the laboratories of the Egyptian Drug Authority. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine has proven effective in preventing infection with the coronavirus, it added, and is a single dose vaccine. It obtained emergency use approval from the World Health Organization and the Egyptian Drug Authority.

The Arab Human Rights Committee of the Arab League (AHRC) convened its 17th session at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat on Monday. A delegation from the Arab Charter on Human Rights visited Doha end of September to learn about the efforts made by Qatar in this regard. Also, Head of the Arab Parliament Human Rights Committee Elwi el Basha urged the Arab countries to accelerate their measures to join the Arab human rights court's statute in order to start its operation soon, noting that it will be a vital and key mechanism to enhance the Arab system of human rights. El Basha said the Arab parliamentarians have been working on enhancing the Arab human rights system and the current strategy of the Arab parliament addresses much attention to this issue. He also noted that the Arab Observatory for Human Rights has been created by the Arab parliament as an independent body to detect and document human rights conditions in the Arab countries.

REUTERS/StYCAIRO - 25 October 2021: Egypt has called on its citizens in Sudan to stay away from areas of conflicts or gatherings in the coming period for their safety. In an earlier statement by the ministry on Thursday, it said that joint armed forces placed Hamdok under house arrest. The ministry said Hamdok called on Sudanese people in a statement to adhere to peacefulness and rush to the streets to defend their revolution. Joint armed forces also stormed the Sudanese Radio and Television headquarters in Omdurman and detained a number of workers, according to the ministry. The ministry also noted that the forces closed bridges and blocked the internet from mobile phones.

Minister of International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat revealed that the ongoing portfolio of her ministry includes 143 projects to finance various sectors in the field of infrastructure, valued at a total of US$18 billion in development finance. She explained that these projects represent more than 70 percent of the total portfolio and will implement projects in renewable energy, water and sanitation sectors, transportation, roads and industry in order to improve the sustainability of local communities. This came during Mashat’s participation in a round table held by the Federation of French Companies (MEDEF) and the Egyptian-French Business Council, discussion major projects in the field of infrastructure implemented in Egypt. Egypt’s government and the political leadership have tirelessly worked during the past five years to develop the country’s infrastructure, she said. Mashat noted that the Ministry of International Cooperation manages the development finance portfolio of Egypt, which amounts to about US$25 billion, and includes 377 projects distributed in all development areas in the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Egypt is closely following the latest developments in Sudan. He explained that the army will continue the democratic transition until the handover of power to an elected civilian government. Burhan declared a state of emergency in Sudan, in addition to dissolving the Transitional Sovereignty Council, the Sudanese government, the Sovereignty Council and the ministers. Sudan’s capital on Monday was gripped by an intense security presence, amid interruptions to Internet and telephone services. Al-Arabiya channel reported that a series of arrests affected a number of ministers in the government of Abdullah Hamdok and a civilian member of the Sovereignty Council.

The Head of Allergy and Immunology Department at the Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA) Amgad al-Haddad has warned against any mixed doses of coronavirus vaccines. During a phone-in with DMC satellite channel on Sunday, Haddad said that most studies have said that taking two different vaccines on the same day has many health risks as the immune system’s response is not guaranteed and could even react violently. He noted that some countries have conducting experiments on mixing vaccines by taking the first dose of a particular vaccine, and taking the second dose of another type. “The combination of coronavirus vaccines and taking two different types at the same time causes health risks,” he added.

CAIRO – 25 October 2021: The Egyptian -Sudanese military exercise, dubbed "Guardian of the South-1" that kicked off on October 19, still taking place at Mohamed Naguib Military Base. The exercise, which kicked off last week is expected to last until October 29, with the participation of groups military personnel of the Egyptian and Sudanese border guards. Participating troops attended a number of lectures and performed some practical training aimed at unifying concepts and enhancing skills to boost the troops' ability to secure borders and combat smuggling, infirtlation, and illegal migration activities, making use of state-of-the-art systems and equipment. The joint drill is one of several exercises executed by the Egyptian and Sudanese armed forces recently, including joint aerial exercises "Nile Eagles 1" in November 2020 and "Nile Eagles 2" in March and April 2021, to share expertise and enhance military cooperation.

CAIRO - 24 October 2021: The Health Ministry said Saturday that 881 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases reported in the country since the beginning of the outbreak to 323,733. On Oct.23, Zayed said that Egypt received the third shipment of Pfizer coronavirus vaccine at Cairo airport on Friday comprising 1.4 million doses offered by the US government through the COVAX initiative in cooperation with Gavi, the vaccine alliance. US Ambassador Jonathan R. Cohen had said last week that the Pfizer vaccines are a direct donation from the people of the United States to the people of Egypt. “This is part of eight million Pfizer vaccine doses the United States is sending to Egypt.”The shipments are part of 500 million Pfizer vaccine doses donated by the US to the African Union countries through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX). Egypt's first Pfizer vaccines shipment arrived from the US in late September.

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday reported 881 new coronavirus cases, 47 deaths, and 649 recoveries. A total of 323,733 cases have been disclosed in Egypt, alongside 18,242 deaths and 273,154 recoveries. The center said in a Saturday statement that it contacted the Supply and Internal Trade Ministry which dismissed the news as baseless. The ministry asserted that all basic food commodities are normally available in markets and large quantities of them are pumped nationwide. The strategic stockpile of basic food commodities is sufficient for several months, it said. A number of countries are commercially dependent for their exports on one or two commodities, and sometimes these commodities may represent 60 percent or more of their total exports.

CAIRO – 23 October 2021: Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli received his Albanian counterpart Edi Rama at the Cairo International Airport on Saturday, said the Egyptian cabinet in a statement. An official reception ceremony was held for the Albanian Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation, the statement added. Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and his delegation are on an official two-day visit to Cairo, where they will discuss bilateral relations in various fields. The Albanian delegation includes the Ministers of Interior and Culture. The visit will also include a tour of the most important national projects implemented by the Egyptian state.
