Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Monday that relations with Qatar are progressing well and will not repeat the mistakes of the past while avoiding interference in internal affairs. Egypt and Qatar agreed to resume diplomatic relations in January. Shaye said the Coast Guard was not notified of the disaster until Saturday morning, though records show its hazardous spill response hotline received the first report of a possible oil slick Friday evening. The report by the National Response Center said the image of a “possible oil anomaly” was probably associated with the first report. Other potential criminal investigations were being pursued by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Coast Guard and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, officials said.
