The aircrafts were loaded with tons of humanitarian aid to help alleviate burdens on Sudanese citizens. Khartoum has, meanwhile, voiced gratitude and appreciation for efforts exerted by Cairo to help the Sudanese people. The aid reflects strong historical ties between Egypt and Sudan. On Monday, Egypt operated the second air bridge of humanitarian aid to Sudan sending tons of food and blankets, spokesperson of the Egyptian Armed Forces stated.

(AP) — The death toll in Louisiana from Hurricane Ida rose to 26 Wednesday, after health officials reported 11 additional deaths in New Orleans, mostly older people who perished from the heat. The latest deaths attributed to Ida happened between Aug. 30 and Monday, but were just confirmed as storm-related by the Orleans Parish coroner, the Louisiana Department of Health said in a statement. More than a million people were left without power, including the entire city of New Orleans, when Ida struck on Aug. 29. Across New Orleans and southeastern Louisiana, families are still waiting to hear when their children can return to school, as districts assessed hurricane damage. Prior to Ida, schools around Louisiana had been open despite widespread cases of COVID-19, although under a statewide mask mandate for all indoor locations.

Rich countries have also offered to donate 1 billion doses to other countries, but fewer than 15% of those doses have “materialized,” Tedros said. ALGIERS, Sept 8 (Reuters) – Algeria has detained 30 people, including seven members of a separatist group that the government has declared a terrorist organization, for involvement in wildfires that killed at least 65 people, the paramilitary police said on Wednesday. They have been placed in custody after appearing before a court following investigations over the wildfires that erupted last month in several provinces, mainly in the Kabylie region, east of Algiers, the paramilitary police, or National Gendarmerie, said in a statement. Authorities have blamed the MAK group, which seeks independence for the Berber-speaking Kabylie region, for the devastating forest fires, and accused Morocco of backing it. Its U.S. embassy said in a statement that “any allegation that Saudi Arabia is complicit in the September 11 attacks is categorically false”. U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday ordered the Department of Justice to review documents from the FBI’s probe into the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks for declassification and release. Saudi Arabia has said it had no role in the hijacked plane attacks. The embassy said that Saudi Arabia has called for the release of all materials related to the United States’ investigation of the attacks.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA), headed by Ahmed Megahed, announced after an extended meeting Portuguese Carlos Queiroz has been appointed the new head coach of the Egyptian national football team.
