CAIRO - 5 September 2020: Egypt received a second batch of the COVID-19 Johnson & Johnson vaccine (525,600 doses) on Saturday evening, announced Health Minister Hala Zayed in a statement on Sunday. He added the new shipment of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be distributed to the centers that vaccinate citizens who seek travel out of the country. On August 9, 2021, Egypt received the first patch of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine against coronavirus. The Ministry of Health also announced that five different vaccines are now available in nearly 539 vaccine centers across the country against coronavirus. The vaccines are: Sputnik V, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Johnson& Johnson and Sinovac.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced Sunday that the Guinness Book of World Records is preparing to receive three new records achieved by the “Tahya Misr” Long Live Egypt Fund. This charitable work aims to eradicate poverty, he said, and encourage better solidarity among classes within society. CAIRO – 5 September 2021: On September 5, the Cervantes Institute [Spanish Cultural Center in Cairo], is organizing a ceremony to honor Khaled Salem, a well-known professor of Spanish literature and translator, in recognition of his career in the field of Spanish studies and translation between Arabic and Spanish. Salem translated about forty titles in a long journey that he started while studying for his BA and PhD in Comparative Literature at the Universidad de Madrid Autonoma. He wrote about Egyptian literature and Arab culture in El País and in other Spanish and Arabic publications in Egypt, Paris, London and the Persian Gulf. Moreover, Salem worked as a professor at the Universidad de Madrid Complutense and the University of La Unid, Burgos, Spain, and the Official Language School in Madrid, then returned to the Academy of Arts in Cairo, and works in other private universities. He has periodical articles and studies in Spanish and Arabic and has participated in many conferences in Europe and Egypt.

The symposium will focus on the definition of black fungus, the nature of its infection, as well as methods of prevention and treatment. CAIRO – 5 September 2021: The Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theater, accepted the participation of 285 shows, 167 foreign shows, and 118 Egyptian shows. A viewing committee has begun to select the performances that will participate and compete for the festival's awards, according to a statement issued by the festival today. The Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theater will launch on December 14 and will run until December 19. The selected performances will either enter the official festival competition or will be staged on the sidelines of the festival. Participating performances will be staged within the festival’s program for two consecutive nights, and the shows can be presented for additional nights outside Cairo in prior coordination with the participating troupes.

CAIRO - 5 September 2020: A total of 331 new coronavirus cases were detected in Egypt over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 289,684, said the Egyptian Health Ministry in a statement on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, ten patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 16,776, the statement said. As many as 439 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recoveries to 241,415, the statement added. Egypt has announced it has entered the fourth wave of Coronavirus as infection rates climbed up. The Ministry of Health also announced that five different vaccines are now available in nearly 539 vaccine centers across the country against coronavirus.

CAIRO – 5 September 2021: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Sunday the terror attack that incurred the death and injury of a number of Iraqi policemen in Kirkuk province. The ministry expressed condolences to the government and people of Iraq as well as the victims' families wishing the injured a speedy recovery. It also expressed solidarity with the fellow Arab state, and support to its measures aimed at achieving stability and eradicating terrorism. The Islamic State (IS) fired at a guard post killing 10 policemen and wounding four others of the stationed force, according to Reuters. CAIRO – 5 September 2021: IHS Markit Egypt Purchasing Managers’ IndexTM (PMI) rose to 49.8 in August, up from 49.1 in July. “Input prices rose at the quickest rate for two years, leading to a sharp increase in output charges amid worries that escalating costs would dampen firms’ profits. "However, PMI data also showed the widespread risk of inflation, as input prices picked up at the fastest rate since August 2019. Consequently, purchasing activity rose at the strongest rate on record, although global supplier delays meant that firms are yet to see many of these inputs arrive,” Owen added. Purchasing activity expanded for the first time in nine months and at the quickest pace since the series began in April 2011.

CAIRO – 5 September 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait affirmed that the Egyptian economy has become more capable of facing challenges and meeting the aspirations of the people, referring that it ranked second globally in the "Economist" index for the return to pre-pandemic life. Maait stated that this reflects the government's success in the elaborate implementation of the economic reform program, in a way that contributed to enabling the Egyptian economy to contain the repercussions of the pandemic. “In Egypt, we are keen on the stability of tax policies in the structural reforms package to attract investment,” he said. Maait explained that government investments during the current fiscal year witnessed an unprecedented increase of 27.6 percent to maximize spending on development projects. Twelve people were killed and 34 others injured in a bus crash last night at on the Suez – Cairo Road when a tourist bus overturned and collided against a concrete barrier. The Suez Ambulance Authority announced that 30 ambulances had been sent to transfer the injured from the scene of the accident to Suez General Hospital and nearby hospitals. Suez Governorate officials moved to the Suez General Hospital to follow up on the injured and providing them with medical care. The agency added that the number of car accident deaths rose to 3,484 in 2019 – an increase of 12.9 percent. The rate of car accidents increased to 27.4 accidents per day in 2019, it said.
