CAIRO – 5 July 2021: Egypt’s Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Ati voiced the country’s rejection to Ethiopia’s step to start the second phase of filling the reservoir of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). This comes after Abdel Ati received on Monday an official letter from his Ethiopian counterpart Seleshi Bekele confirming that Ethiopia started the second filling phase of the GERD reservoir. Abdel Ati said this act represents a clear and dangerous violation of the 2015 Declaration of Principles signed by the three countries. Egypt and Sudan has reiterated rejection of the second filling of GERD, which Ethiopia builds on the Blue Nile, unless the three countries reach a legally-binding agreement on the dam. Rounds of African Union-sponsored talks have collapsed with Egypt and Sudan blaming the collapse of negotiations on Ethiopia’s intransigence.

LONDON (Reuters) - Spain coach Luis Enrique believes Tuesday's Euro 2020 semi-final against Italy could hinge on who dominates possession. Spain broke a tournament record for possession in their opening game against Sweden but had little to show for it as the game finished 0-0. However, he said his team, rather like this new-look Italy side that have captured neutrals' hearts, were most comfortable with the ball at their feet. We are leaders in ball possession but they can also make use of it and enjoy the ball, that'll be the first battle we need to conquer," Luis Enrique told a news conference on Monday. "They can adapt to not having the ball, they've done that in the tournament in certain stages but they're more comfortable with the ball and stronger with it.

In a press release on Monday, an AL official source called on all Libyan parties to set their differences aside and reach an agreement to overcome all obstacles, which will help hold the elections on time. Egypt, with its great people and strong army, continues to work for peace and call for the settlement of all crises through political tracks that meet the aspirations of the people and respect the rules of international legitimacy. However, this does not mean surrendering and negotiating with the enemy forces, terrorist militias and mercenaries brought in to threaten regional and international peace and security. Libya, a major North African oil and gas producer, has enjoyed little peace since the 2011 NATO-backed uprising against Muammar Gaddafi, and the sprawling country has been split since 2014 between rival factions.
