The Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi on Sunday responded to statements by Mortada Mansour, former president of Zamalek Club, regarding his return his office at the club on Thursday. “There is no basis for what was reported about Mortada Mansour’s return to head the Zamalek club in the coming period,” Sobhi said during a phone-​in with TV host Amr Adib, presenter of the “al-Hekaya” show (The Story). “The former president of Zamalek contacted Hussein Labib, head of the temporary committee in the White Club, in the past hours to inform him that he will be at the club on Thursday,” he said. The Egyptian Olympic Committee in October suspended Mansour from his post as Zamalek’s president and banned him from entering stadiums. Mansour is still eligible to run for the Zamalek presidency elections scheduled for November.

It further permitted raising dogs for a purpose provided that it does not terrify other people or disturb the neighbors. The General Authority for Veterinary Services has recently set conditions for obtaining a pet dog license, while discussing an increase in the price of pet dog licenses in coordination with the directorates of veterinary medicine across the nation. 7- The license must include the date of the license and its validity period, which is one year from the date of applying for the license, provided that the license is renewed annually.

Egyptian opera singer Farah al-Dibany sang at the opening ceremony of the UN “Generation Equality Forum: Paris” on Wednesday at the Arab World Institute in the French capital. Dibany published pictures on the sidelines of the ceremony, including one with the French president, on her Instagram account. Mezzo Soprano Dibany is the first Egyptian and Arab woman to sing at the Paris Opera. She has won many international awards, including the Wagner Foundation Award, after being chosen as the best young operatic talent by the Opera World magazine in Germany. Dibany was granted the Hassan Kamy Award and was honored by Paris Opera in 2019 and at the Youth Conference in Egypt in December 2019.

The Heritage Committee of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) approved at its latest meeting in Rabat, Morocco Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, the city of Shali in Siwa Oasis, and the Baron Palace in Heliopolis district in the ISESCO heritage list. This came after the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities submitted integrated files regarding the archaeological and cultural aspects of these sites, alongside their architectural elements and state of preservation. The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mostafa Waziri, said that the registration of these sites comes within the strategy and plan of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to highlight priority archaeological sites and register them on international heritage lists to improve their tourist attractions. He added that the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir was registered on the preliminary list of UNESCO in February, and that the comprehensive restoration operations were implemented in both the city of Shali and the Baron Palace and its recent opening to the public contributed to its adoption on the ISESCO list. He noted that ISESCO’s list includes the Red Monastery in Sohag and the Nilometer in Al-Rawda.

Port Said Airport will start its daily operations in July 17 in cooperation with the tourism company “Tishoury” and the “Airline Petroleum Services” company, Governor of Port Said Adel Al-Ghadban announced Saturday. A representative for the Ever Given cargo ship announced Sunday that a solution has officially been reached with the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) over compensation to Egypt’s authorities for the blockade of the waterway. Earlier on Sunday, the Ismailia Economic Court decided to postpone hearings of the SCA Canal lawsuit against the Ever Given to July 11 to allow the parties finalize the settlement. He explained that the authority is only looking for compensation for its losses incurred from the disruption to navigation and trade. The Ever Given vessel ran aground in the Suez Canal in March, causing a six-day halt on traffic, and halted the global trade movement. Evergreen Marine Corp, the Taiwanese operator of the cargo ship Ever Given, has initially denied responsibility for any financial losses caused by the incident.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced easing coronavirus restrictions in Egypt by raising occupancy rate in hotels to 70 percent during the Higher Committee for the Management of the Coronavirus Crisis. The committee announced the raise in occupancy rate will also apply to restaurants and cafes, as well as cinemas and theaters. Egypt’s Health Ministry on Sunday confirmed 179 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total number of confirmed cases up to 282,082, ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed announced. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 16,264 nationwide, after the ministry announced 22 deaths. And 459 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising Egypt’s total number of fully-recovered cases to 214,087.

Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea announced Sunday that trade exchange between Egypt and Iraq has moved on positively despite the coronavirus pandemic, with the the total volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Iraq amounting to US$747.6 million last year, compared to $551.3 million in 2019 – an increase of 36 percent. The value of Egyptian exports to Iraq amounted to $421.7 million last year compared to $411.4 million in 2019, an increase of three percent. This came during Gamea’s statements after talks with her Iraqi counterpart Alaa al-Jubouri, during her official visit to Iraq. Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals Manhal Aziz al-Khabbaz and the Egyptian Ambassador to Iraq, Waled Ismael, participated in meetings. Egypt’s contribution to the support and development of the Iraqi industry is an important step towards fixing the imbalance in Iraqi trade with many countries of the world, which will bring balance for the Iraqi economy, he said.
