A woman has been arrested and her daughter booked in Meerut for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s ISI and residing in India without valid citizenship, police officials said on Monday. ADVERTISEMENTThe complaint stated that her daughter, Aiman Farhat, who was born in Pakistan in 1993, was brought to India on a Pakistani passport and later enrolled in a school here, but was never granted an Indian citizenship, they said. The complainant further alleged that the woman had prepared forged documents to obtain a passport for her daughter and procured two separate identity documents in her own name. It was also alleged that both the women were spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and collecting confidential information, the police said. The police arrested Saba Farhat on Monday and she will be produced in the court on Tuesday, officials said.

The AMCA project is aimed at developing India’s homegrown fifth-generation stealth fighter, a single-seat twin-engine jet with advanced stealth coatings and internal weapons bays. It is expected to produce over 125 fighter jets that could be ready for induction into the Air Force by 2035. Originally seven consortiums, including Adani Defence and HAL, had bid to partner with the DRDO for the AMCA project. The shortlisted bidders are expected to receive funding support from the government to build models of the AMCA, before manufacturing rights are given. The AMCA project marks India’s push to modernise its Air Force, including weapons and equipment upgrades.
