'Snow leopards are large predators with strong aggressive tendencies. China is home to the highest number of wild snow leopards in the world, according to the Snow Leopard Trust. The country has around 60 per cent of the world's snow leopard population, but attacks on humans are considered rare as the animals are known for their shy and elusive nature.

A Baggy Green cap that belonged to Sir Donald Bradman is set to stay in Australia and will be displayed in a museum, after it was sold at auction on Monday. The ‘Australian Treasure’ was worn by the iconic batsman during Australia’s 1947-48 Test series against India. It was also India’s first Test series since the country gained independence in August 1947. During the series, Bradman came up against young Indian bowler Sriranga Wasudev Sohoni. Another of Bradman’s Baggy Green caps from the 1947-48 home Test series against India had gone on sale back in December 2024.

It has been confirmed there has been an outbreak of bluetongue on a farm in Co Wexford. Confirming the outbreak, agriculture minister Martin Heydon, said: “My department has detected a bovine infected with bluetongue virus serotype 3 (BTV3) in a herd in Co Wexford. The replication of the virus in infected midges cannot happen when the daily temperatures are lower than 12C. The minister said his department had been actively negotiating revisions to many trade certificates for third countries to minimise the impact of any outbreak. "I encourage cattle and sheep farmers to discuss with their private veterinary practitioner whether vaccination is appropriate for their circumstances.”

Ginny Buckley, chief executive of EV advice website Electrifying.com – which partnered with the AA in conducting the survey last month – said the “significant gap between perception and reality” of EV batteries demonstrates the need for standardised tests and documentation. She accused the Government of “overlooking” the used EV market, saying its policy on encouraging the switch to electric motoring “continues to focus almost exclusively on new cars”. Some 44% of survey respondents said incentives towards the purchase of used EVs – such as the interest-free loan funded by the Scottish Government – would make them more likely to buy one.
