[AFP]The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the most prestigious global honours, awarded to individuals and organisations “who have done the most or best to advance peace”, according to Alfred Nobel’s will. This leads to the question: Is the Nobel Prize perhaps, in the modern day, a tool to sanitise Western leaders and provide them with carte blanche to decimate less wanted populations? In recent years, the Nobel Prize has stopped acting retroactively to clean up the images of war criminals but now seeks to sanitise images ahead of crimes committed. When US President Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, a few months into his first term, the Nobel Committee cited his efforts to strengthen diplomacy and international cooperation. Treasury is proceeding with planned issuance of shares to the public despite a court order suspending the same. Justice Lawrence Mugambi on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, issued conservatory orders halting the implementation of Sections 27(1)(b), 27(1)(c), and 27(2) of the amended law. President Ruto, in June 2025, appeared to disregard a court order while appointing commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC).

/ENOS TECHEThe Ministry of Education’s proposal to elevate about 1,000 day senior secondary schools to national status has drawn criticism from a section of parents and the general public, even as the policy change remains under review. In the meantime, Ogamba said the ministry had already recorded low turnout in several C4 schools. While Ogamba’s proposal to elevate C4 schools to C1 status appears plausible, it has been met with criticism, with many stakeholders calling instead for proper equipping of the institutions while retaining their current day school status to attract enrolment. Critics argue that changing a school’s status without upgrading infrastructure will not address the underlying problem. “We don’t want any national school status.
