Police in Nairobi have lobbed teargas to disperse protesting youths along Kimathi Street. The youths had gathered on the street just outside the building that houses the Nation Media Group. Another contingent of police officers arrived and lobbed teargas at the protesting youth who then ran for safety. The protesting youths could be heard chanting anti-Ruto slogans in the city centre. This comes even as President William Ruto has called for dialogue with the youths later this week.

Transport has been paralysed along the Nairobi -Mombasa Highway after demonstrators barricaded it at Mlolongo, Machakos County. Motorists were forced to avoid the road after the anti-government demos erupted in Mlolongo town on Tuesday. The rioters who thronged the town in groups blocked the highway at the footbridge near the Olympic filling station within Mlolongo town and lit tyres on it as they protested. The situation completely paralysed transport in the usually busy highway as the protestors engaged police officers in running battles. Businesses within Mlolongo town have since remained closed after those that were operating before the melee erupted hastily shut down for fear of looting and destruction of property by the demonstrators.

All roads leading to State House, Nairobi, have remained closed even as protests kick off in some towns in the country. Mamlaka Road has been blocked near the University Way Roundabout. All the main gates to the State House have been blocked. Water canons are stationed around the State House amid heavy police deployment. Police are taking no chances with every vehicle attempting to access State House Road turned away.

SEPANG: A man has been detained after attempting to smuggle 15kg of ketamine worth more than RM700,000 inside a box labelled as instant noodles at KLIA2, says the Customs Department. “The checks revealed 15 packets of white crystals believed to be ketamine, which were packed into tea packages, stored in the box.
