Detectives in Laikipia have arrested one suspect and recovered several electronic materials believed to have been stolen from the Chieni supermarket in Nyeri. The man suspect was busted in his house during a closely coordinated police operation in the Majengo area. They appeared before a Nanyuki court and were charged with an intent to commit a felony, contrary to Section 307 of the Penal Code. The supermarket, owned by Kieni MP Wainaina Njoroge was broken into by Tuesday by goons who looted before disappearing. Njoroge, who operates a supermarket chain in the Mt Kenya region, said the looted Nyeri branch employed over 350 people.

He noted that the number of young people who stormed Parliament recently should be an eye-opener because those people were not mad. Minority Leader in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi echoed Raila’s sentiments saying President Ruto should implement the Nadco report before another set of dialogue is carried out in the country. The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) zonal directors’ elections administered by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have turned out to be a chaotic undertaking. In 21 counties, more than 600,000 tea farmers voted to elect new KTDA directors. “We experienced hiccups due to late supply of election material by IEBC,” Mr Chepkwony said.
