Foko, a former staff to deceased CDC lawmaker Munah Pelham, won the by-election in electoral district nine in Monsterrado County. Monrovia – The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) has issued six separate licenses to the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) after the nation’s premier energy supplier met all of the criteria for licensing. He said while the attention of the world is riveted on these developments in Liberia’s electricity supply industry, the expectations of Liberians with respect to accessing reliable, affordable, and stable electricity is high. “Consequently, we make this appeal to the Government of Liberia and our development partners for their continued support to the LERC in order to achieve the stated objectives as outlined in the 2015 Electricity Law of Liberia,” he pleaded. The Chairman on the House Committee on Lands, Mines and Energy, Rep. Vincent Willie called pledged the Legislature’s support LEC and called on the corporation to improve its service delivery. Monrovia — The Palm Grove Cemetery, the once glorious final resting place for most of the country’s dead has now become the bush in the heart of the country’s capital with grass overtaking all the tombs and graves. Once the country’s national cemetery, it was threatened during June 1982 by Monrovia municipal authorities. The authorities requested permission to close the cemetery to new burials and to move the cemetery to a new location, away from its original Center Street site, but the cemetery remains in Monrovia to date. In 2016, the most famous and historic cemetery came close to being demolished by the Special Presidential Task Force headed by General Services Agency Director General Mary Broh. Madam Taylor wrote the Plenary of the Senate requesting the body to put halt to the ongoing demolition of the Palm Groves Cemetery.

Monrovia — The National Civil Society Council of Liberia (NSCL) has called on the National Elections Commission to give reasons behind the delay in certificating Madam Botoe Kanneh who was projected as winner by top media institutions and observers of the senatorial race in Gbarpolu County.
