The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah hailed the speech of the UN envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily at the UN Security Council regarding the importance of ending the transitional periods through elections to spare the country any disturbances, praising the exercises conducted by his government that simulated securing elections. Dbeibah said on Twitter Wednesday that he agrees with what Bathily said about some institutions’ acts to disrupt elections, saying it is a danger to Libya's future. "The decrease in the number of displaced persons by 57% and the improvement in the security and military situation referred to by the UN envoy compared to 2020, are things that reinforce what we emphasize regarding the importance of supporting stability efforts and encouraging development to restore life." Another batch of 159 Nigerians who had been stranded in Libya are now back home, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disclosed. According to NEMA, the returnees arrived at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Ikeja, late Tuesday evening aboard an Al Buraq Air aircraft. The returnees, NEMA said, comprised 71 male and 74 female adults and 14 infants. Mustapha Ahmed, Director General of NEMA, received the returnees on behalf of the federal government. He said the federal government remained committed to ensuring that Nigerians were not stranded in foreign countries.

The spokesman added that the Libyan forces “eliminated a group of extremists and two were captured, and our forces also found light and medium weapons, ammunition and two desert SUVs.”Al-Mismari concluded his statement by saying, “Our forces did not lose any of their elements in this operation, which came after a series of monitoring and reconnaissance operations and gathering the necessary information to carry out the attack by surprise to the enemy so that it could not perform any of its defense duties.”Earlier, the commander of the Libyan army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, threatened to “fight a decisive battle to liberate the country if peaceful efforts fail,” stressing the need to remove foreign forces from Libya. The D-G, who was represented by the Lagos Territorial Office Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, said: “The Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800 with registration number 5A-DMG, arrived at the airport late on Tuesday. “Upon profiling of the returnees, the number of female adults was 62, including a medical case, female children were 12, and five infant females. The number of adult males was 64 with seven male children and nine infant males, making a total of 159 altogether.”Almost every month, NEMA has been receiving stranded Nigerians from Libya and the number keeps swelling.
