Military sources have told Al Jazeera Net website that forces loyal to Khalifa Haftar arrived in the biggest camp of forces loyal to Osama Juweili, a former Joint Operations Room commander, in Al-Aziziyah in south Tripoli. The sources said the forces had 600 vehicles, including a series of Kornet missiles, and 38 members of the Tariq bin Ziyad brigade that is led by Saddam Haftar. Identical sources said the forces loyal to senior leader at Tripoli Revolutionaries Brigade, Ayoub Abu Ras, who withdrew from Ain Zara in south Tripoli arrived with their armed vehicles in Al-Azizyah to be part of forces loyal to the House of Representatives-designated Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha. Abu Ras has vowed to return to Tripoli after striking an alliance with Juweili's forces in support of Bashagha as they wait forces withdrawing from Sirte to arrive and join them, the sources told Al Jazeera. According to the sources, Juweili's military equipment included the Russian Pantsir systems that Haftar's forces used extensively during the period of their offensive on Tripoli.

Last Thursday, Emir of Qatar met with Dbeibah in Doha and reiterated the need to support international efforts to hold elections in Libya as the only choice for the people to reach stability, stressing rejection to transitional phases.

Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, arrived Saturday in the Qatari capital, Doha. Saleh and his accompanying delegation, upon their arrival at Doha International Airport, were received by the Speaker of the Qatari Shura Council, Hassan al-Ghanim, and the Secretary-General of the Council, Ahmed bin Nasser, according to Qatar News Agency. The French Embassy in Libya announced the main points of the meeting of the French Special Envoy to Libya, Paul Soler, with the President of the Presidential Council (PC), Mohamed al-Menfi. This comes after the French envoy delivered, on Thursday, a written letter from French President Emmanuel Macron to al-Menfi. The French Embassy said the meeting focused on the priority of Libya’s sovereignty, support for the dialogue between Parliament and the State Council, support for the 5+5 Joint Military Committee, and support for the economic dialogue between Libyans. The Embassy indicated that the meeting also dealt with the importance of holding the presidential and parliamentary elections soon and in accordance with the aspirations of the Libyans. In a statement, the Presidential Council conveyed the French envoy and the French people’s aspiration for more cooperation at all levels, to consolidate relations between the two friendly countries, noting that the French President hopes to meet the President of the Presidential Council, during the high-level meetings of the upcoming 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

8 new people tested positive for COVID-19, marking 6 percent of the infection rate, according to a Friday report by the National Center for Disease Control in Libya (NCDC). The center also said 5 have recovered during the same reporting period. The total recorded COVID-19 cases in Libya have exceeded more than 50,000 since the start of the pandemic, while over 490,000 of which have recovered, according to the NCDC. The virus has claimed the lives of 6,437 people. Over two million people received one dose of the vaccination, while more than one million others were vaccinated with two doses.

The Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Khalid Al-Mishri discussed with the French envoy to Libya Paul Soler support for constitutional track that includes the House of Representatives (HoR) as the two sides reiterated support for dialogue and rejection of military solutions. HCS media office said Al-Mishri talked about HCS vision for a solution to the current crisis via elections based on constitutional framework that leads to stability.
