KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 11): Maxis Bhd (KL:MAXIS) said it has been appointed as the single preferred infrastructure provider and telecommunications partner for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) for 10 years. Under the agreement, Maxis will deliver connectivity systems across the 665km project also known as the ECRL, including mobile coverage and wireless Internet for passengers. "Maxis is committed to supporting the ECRL project by delivering fast, reliable, and secure connectivity, benefiting its operations, passengers, and ecosystem of retailers," chief executive officer Goh Seow Eng said in a statement. ECRL, owned by government entity Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd, connects Port Klang in Selangor to Kelantan’s capital city Kota Bahru in a massive project costing some RM75 billion. Maxis has also signed an agreement with U Mobile Sdn Bhd to jointly develop new mobile infrastructure to ensure a shared network across the rail link and accommodate users from all mobile network operators.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 11): PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETDAG) will likely see higher commercial margins when the fuel retailer reports its results for the final quarter of 2025, said BIMB Securities. “Margins are expected to be further supported by strong sales volumes of higher-margin products, particularly Jet A1 and diesel, underpinned by sustained aviation demand and infrastructure-driven commercial activity,” BIMB Securities said. All in all, PETRONAS Dagangan will probably report a net profit of RM286 million for the fourth quarter of 2025 (4QFY2025), bringing the total net profit for the year to around RM1.1 billion, according to its forecasts. Investors were also jittery over Malaysia’s fuel subsidy rationalisation that was implemented near the end of Sept 2025. “We caution that the margin outperformance may not be sustainable amid ongoing jet fuel price volatility and an uncertain oil price environment” which could constrain the company’s ability to maintain elevated commercial margins, BIMB Securities flagged.

PUTRAJAYA: Tears flowed freely at the public gallery of the Federal Court as Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad’s conviction and sentence in a RM3.09mil graft case were restored. His family members, including wife Puan Sri Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid, were hugging and comforting each other after the decision was passed down yesterday. It is understood that Mohd Isa would be sent to the Sungai Buloh prison immediately as the committal order was issued. Earlier, a three-judge panel chaired by Federal Court judge Justice Nordin Hassan allowed the appeal by the prosecution to reinstate Mohd Isa’s conviction and sentence by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Feb 3, 2021. On Feb 3, 2021, the High Court found Mohd Isa guilty and sentenced him but on March 6, 2024, a three-judge panel of the Court of Appeal unanimously set aside his conviction and sentence.

He said many private clinics across the state have recorded a higher number of walk-in patients complaining of fever, cough and flu in recent weeks. Despite the increase, Dr Mohamed Amin assured the public there was adequate medication to treat patients with common respiratory illnesses. He said private clinics in Johor adhere strictly to the Health Ministry’s standard operating pro­­ce­dure, especially when hand­­ling patients who have been coughing for more than two weeks. Dr Mohamed Amin said patients who test positive for TB would be referred to the nearest government health clinic for further examination and treatment. He explained that TB patients are required to attend health clinics daily to consume their medication for a minimum of six months without fail.
