The study found that people with early stroke were more likely to have blood type A and less likely to have blood type O (the most common blood type) -- compared to people with late stroke and people who never had a stroke. Both early and late stroke were also more likely to have blood type B compared to controls. After adjusting for sex and other factors, researchers found those who had blood type A had a 16 percent higher risk of having an early stroke than people with other blood types. Those who had blood type O had a 12 percent lower risk of having a stroke than people with other blood types. “The association of blood type with later-onset stroke was much weaker than what we found with early stroke,” said Mitchell.

PUTRAJAYA (Sept 1): Malaysia has introduced a Premium Visa Programme (PVIP) to attract wealthy foreigners to invest in Malaysia and reside in the country for a period of 20 years, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin. Hamzah said PVIP is being offered to business tycoons from all countries, except Israel and those that do not have diplomatic ties with Malaysia. "We have to set a ceiling so that it does not exceed 1% of the total number of Malaysians. "If there are 30 million citizens now, then it means that there should only be 1% (300,000) and the ceiling number also includes (participants) of Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme," he said. "The Home Ministry is confident that this programme will be able to attract more foreign direct investment that will strengthen the economy and increase job opportunities for locals.

Empowering local championsMNC activities have fostered local entrepreneurship and spurred many Malaysian companies to become local and global champions. Integration into global value chainSmall and medium enterprises (SMEs) and local companies are able to form partnerships with MNCs to develop strong links along the supply value chain. Local companies support MNCs’ needs by providing the materials and components they require, which in turn helps the local companies to grow organically and gain a good reputation in partnering with MNCs. This contributes to our local SMEs adopting internationally benchmarked sustainability standards and elevating the adoption of sustainability within Malaysia’s supply ecosystem. As more companies, both local and foreign, embrace tenets of sustainability, these will positively impact the local population, the environment and the economy.

The median expectation for 2022 growth was 7.2%, according to an Aug 22-26 Reuters poll, but economists said that the solid growth rate masks how rapidly the economy was expected to slow in coming months. "By supporting growth through investment, the government has only fired on one engine while forgetting about the impetus which domestic consumption provides. This is why India's growth is still below its pre-pandemic trend." The economy has not grown fast enough to accommodate some 12 million people joining the labour force each year. That follows three interest rate rises this year totalling 140 basis points, and would take the repo rate to 6.00% by end-1Q 2023.
