In a statement, the band wrote that Bamonte died "after a short illness at home" on Christmas Day. The statement said Bamonte was a full-time member of The Cure since 1990, playing guitar, six-string bass, and keyboards, and performed in more than 400 shows. He first worked as an assistant to co-founder and lead vocalist, Robert Smith, before becoming a full member after keyboardist Roger O'Donnell left the band in 1990.

They roll into Raglan and as daylight breaks on November 1, they launch the gamefishing boat with Teague at the helm. Rescuers on the scene after the boat was tipped over on the Raglan Bar. In my case, my parents did as well, choosing to make Aotearoa home and becoming immigrants to these beautiful shores. Not every country offers that. I can picture the life my children might have had elsewhere, including in Sweden, but I would not choose it over what New Zealand offers.
